Does that not sum up the majority of those schools (though there are some exceptions at every school)? I think so.

Well, I mean, they are superior to us.

Why in the world can't ASU schedule big teams anymore? My guess is that Alabama is scared to play us and other big named teams like FSU, UNC, Duke, West Virginia, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Maryland. Why can GSU our rivals, schedule these teams when we can't? I really think their scared to play us.

He probably got the idea to post this based on comments he read on here. How many times have we read in state (UNCheat) P5 teams are afraid to play us? Honestly some of the knee jerking around here is hilarious. Anybody that comes on here frequently over the past few months should know who this poster is. I guess the opportunity to rip someone for expressing an opinion is just too hard to resist for some.

To answer your question JME, in my opinion they are not scared at all. Look at our performance against P5 teams over the past decade. UM aside we are winless. We were competitive with Clemson's starters for a qtr ( big accomplishment IMO) and with their 2 or 3 deep for two more qtrs, but buy no means did we scare them. My guess is UNC figures they have nothing to gain by playing us just as we at this point believe we have nothing to gain by playing Western Carolina.

OK, so if we're giving serious answers, here's mine: The question isn't valid to P5 schools in general because, as noted, we play at least one every year, usually a big name. And we've gotten two to agree to play in Boone, which is two more than our aforementioned rivals in Statesboro have scheduled to visit them.

For the in-state schools (or UNC, State and Duke specifically), I think it's a valid question. If by "scared" one means they believe they would lose to us, I would say probably not. But I think they do recognize they could lose to us relatively easily, and they don't want to take that risk. I think it's a combination of that and the fact that there's no recruiting benefit to playing in Boone. And I'm not sure App would be willing to play those schools on the road with no return game anymore - we tend to reserve those games for the super-big names/big paydays since moving up to FBS.

When we were a very tough FCS program it was probably more of a no win situation for UNC or Duke. A win would only be a win over an FCS program and not much help for bowl qualifying. Those schools were not competing with us for recruiting and were never going to play in Boone. Like a few guys have said, we typically got our money game every year and I would gather that the payout from LSU, Florida, UGA and Michigan would certainly be much greater than Duke. Maybe our athletic department chose the higher pay day. On the flipside a loss to App would certainly not be what those schools would prefer either (duh!). We did play NCSU several years ago and ECU twice. A game versus UNC would be really cool but doesn't look likely.

This may be it's not you it's me situation. If I'm Doug I try and schedule the highest guarantee money game I can get and still have a chance to win.

I'd schedule a game with South Carolina before I schedule one with Alabama. Although Ark St. just signed a game with Alabama in 2018 for $1.7M.

Just showing him the correct way to type something. Guess they don't teach the correct way to type a sentence anymore. Maybe it's common core, I don't know. :D :D

We were talking about future Power Five teams yesterday and it seems that there is speculation that we will be playing South Carolina in a home and away series. This has great regional appeal and bring the SEC to the Rock. Take them as they come and just win each game. Tennessee and Miami in the first three weeks of the season is amazing.

I highly doubt SC will be coming to KBS. I dont think they have ever played at a G5.

Not sure where this is coming from either, but with Elliott and Jeff Dillman there now, I can see it happening. I'm sure both are still close to Satt.

I meant to ask Satterfield about the state of his relationship with Elliott when I had him on the phone last week. Adrenaline flowed and I forgot. Haha sorry guys. Next time. (And there definitely will be a next time)

They're going to ECU in a few years, have played ECU in Charlotte and have been to UCF. And they do need to schedule some games.

I was speaking to the world famous Big C during the women's game. There is the speculation out that we have a new announcement coming regarding a Power Five game. Dream game would be the "Mountaineer Clash" vs WVU in Charlotte.

I truly hope that we get a new announcement of some type soon. It is a long time between spring practice and the Tennessee game.

Would love the game but I don't see why we would play WVU at BoA. I could see BoA with maybe a USC just because we're both close but I don't think APP-WVU would have great attendance numbers

Sorry to repeat myself, but speculation by whom? Phrases like "There is speculation..." just gnaw at the old journalist in me.

Also, I agree with Yosef10; that doesn't really sound like a "dream game" and wouldn't make much sense to do at BofA in my opinion. Would be great as a home and home, of course.

That would be a lot of pull for a position coach and an S&C coach to be influencing scheduling decisions.
