Future home games
It appears that Gardner-Webb and ETSU will be on future schedules at KBS. G-W appears on the home sked in 2018 and the Bucs in 2019 and 2024.

Re: Future home games
I have no problem with those. It gives us an easy (hopefully easy) home game, an opponent we can buy out if we get a better offer, and we help out a couple of schools in our area.hapapp wrote:It appears that Gardner-Webb and ETSU will be on future schedules at KBS. Re: Future home games
Most years, we are going to have to play an FCS in order to have six home games. I don't have any problem with those opponents being local schools with which our fans have some familiarity. And, as AppinVA pointed out, these games can be bought out relatively cheaply if a better opportunity comes along.

Actually pretty excited to see ETSU in Boone in a few years. They are the closest university to App and there once was a pretty kicking rivalry between the two on the basketball court. With them now having a football team, it would be good to play them every now and then. They will actually bring fans to Boone and KBS, as well. While they aren't an FBS team, they are a good get in regards to fan support and what will bring in ticket revenue.

Re: Future home games
Agree, though I'm a little surprised to see us locking these in this early, especially the 2024 game. Hopefully we got a very small buyout figure for that one. I have no problem with one FCS per year though.AppinVA wrote:I have no problem with those. Re: Future home games
Gardner Webb not the sexist announcement but as several here have already said...close enough they'll bring some fans, it's another home game, and we can buy it out going forward. We can't play the Miami's and Marshall's of the world every week.

I am surprised to see ETSU. I would think that they need more $$$ for an FBS game than we would be willing to pay i.e. WCU model.

Re: Future home games
It would be good to use this as a way to restart the basketball series as well. With the long travel we face in conference we should try to play ETSU in as many sports as possible. If that means signing them for a few football games I sure don't have a problem with it. As others have said if we play an FCS it should be a local school.8993 wrote:Actually pretty excited to see ETSU in Boone in a few years. Re: Future home games
I would love for us to bundle multi sport ooc games with the likes of ETSU, Chattanooga, and Western.
Would be great to associate with WCU for baseball, and the Tennessee schools for basketball. If we have to throw in a football game every now and again (of course with the option to buy out) we absolutely should.

Re: Future home games
This is a great choice by Gillin. Everyone wants home games and its hard for a G5 to schedule 6-7 home games a year without an FCS. If your going to play FCS, ETSU and Gardner Webb are great picks. This is so much better than the Howard and Jacksonvilles of past years.

I'm not that excited about Gardner-Webb but I'm fine with ETSU. Plus the games can be moved if something pops up.

If we're going to schedule some home games vs FCS teams, I'd like to see Villanova one more time.

Re: Future home games
I'd like to see several revenge games with FCS schools; A&T, Chuck Southern, Liberty, as well as Villanova and Maine. We owe them a couple. Then there's Furman. I'd like to pummel them a few times just for fun.WataugaMan wrote:If we're going to schedule some home games vs FCS teams, I'd like to see Villanova one more time.

Meh. Just schedule a few cupcakes, and if it comes that we play, win it convincingly and move onto the next game.appstate77 wrote:I'd like to see several revenge games with FCS schools; A&T, Chuck Southern, Liberty, as well as Villanova and Maine. I want to exact revenge on Southern Mississippi.

Yes, for our 'cupcake' games they're ideal, in my opinion.mtd Security wrote:You want these games???? really??? Well then --- Why not Western Carolina or Elon

Re: Future home games
If we're scheduling an FCS team, I want someone who can barely walk and chew gum, at least until we're established enough to reliably blow out higher-level FCS teams.
I don't want an "interesting" FCS opponent. If an FCS game is interesting, we're doing something wrong.

Re: Future home games
Because Western's AD only will continue to schedule App if it was a home and home and I'd like to have our players with functioning knees, which couldn't happen after playing Elon.mtd Security wrote:You want these games???? really??? Well then --- Why not Western Carolina or Elon
