You guys don't think the powers that be wouldn't love to hold the AAC down by promoting a MAC or SBC 12-0 team to further distance themselves.

No doubt that the current perception of the Sun Belt is poor but that will not remain the case. The WAC/MWC were perceived as terrible until Boise State stepped up and started competing at a high level. App and GS are in the process of re-writing the standards for Sun Belt football. All we have to do is take care of our own schedule and the rest will follow.

Hopefully basketball and baseball can step up and start carrying their end of this arrangement. Although football is the most visible driver, those sports certainly add to the overall perception. Making the NCAA tournament / playoffs and winning a few would help a LOT.

That's how I feel as well and that is why I believe there was no way in hell we get the access bowl last year. If we and GaSo keep taking care of our business in conference and win bowl games against quality G5 teams the SB will get elevated. Having said that we have to do better against P5 competition. We have gotten our asses handed to us on annual basis. We have to win some and compete in all to gain respect. Right now we are seen as having a neat little program and it will take time and P5 wins to change that perception.

I highly doubt App would have missed the NY6 at 12-0 with a win over 12-1 ACC champ Clemson. Had Houston gone 13-0... who knows. But those are two hypotheticals. Reality is that we weren't even close to beating Clemson (or A-State, for that matter).

BTW, the idea that Boise made the Mountain West is not true. That league was actually much stronger a few years back, with Utah, TCU and BYU all national powers.

Houston still gets it over a first year FBS in a very weak conference. Money says so.

Last season the SB owned the MAC due to App and the Gum Roots taking care of business. Yes, App and the Stink need to continue winning bowls games but the other Conference teams need to begin stepping up to the plate as well.

I agree 100% when it comes to doing better against P5 competition, we can't afford to continue to perform like FCS teams when we meet these programs. (need to be competitive)
