Time has passed. He left 15 years ago and hasn't advanced very far.
He's still an SEC recruiter. I like him for HC better than Elliot or Satterfield.
I don't want anybody coming in here that has ever had anything to do with Bobby Petrino. Aside from that, what makes an SEC recruiter a better candidate for head coach than they guy that helped win us 3 national championships?
This board has a bad case Of short memory and grass is greener on the other side syndrome. While he was gone, all everyone wanted was Satterfield back. Now that he's here, just about anybody else will do.
You would be wise to hold such comments when you don't know the real story. As recruiting coordinator Horton was the only hold over from Houston Nutt's staff. Tim is an Arkansas grad and loves his coaching at his school. I think you will agree coaching running backs at an SEC school is a fairly tough gig to get and I'm sure you would have walked away from it on principle. Tim Horton has more integrity and class in his little finger than most people do in their entire body. He is also one of the hardest working assistant coaches in the country and was recognized by Rivals.com and ESPN.com as one of the top recruiters in the nation. You guys are lamenting over losing a person of character like Coach Moore but don't realize a guy just like him is wanting to come back to Boone and carry on Coach Moore's legacy.
Hasn't advanced very far? Going to the Mtn West from ASU is a bigger jump than what Scott accomplished in two stops. You must think jumping BACK to FCS from FBS is more impressive than going from Air Force to Arkansas. He has coached under some of the best coaches in college football. Frank Broyles, Ken Hatfield, Fisher DeBerry, Bill Snyder, Houston Nutt and Petrino - who is a jerk but a smart football coach. Coaching in the Big XII, Mountain West and SEC is a tad more daunting than a couple of years at Toledo and FIU or two years coaching offensive line coach at South Carolina. Good luck trying to convince people Satterfield's or Elliot's experience is more impressive than Horton's.
Why you guys keep thinking Elliot and Satterfield will bring back the magic og 05, 06 & 07 baffles me. There were other good coaches involved who are long gone, not to mention a couple of guys wearing #7 & #14. Do you think Elliot or Satterfield will make the hard decision and fire the defensive staff? Did you know Scott and Jones were business partners a few years back building houses together in the off season? Did you know Scott was ready to give up coaching before a chance meeting landed him back in Boone this year? Did you know Elliot was ready to jump ship and take a job at Davidson after the '04 season, but Coach Moore would not give him a recomendation? After going to USC Elliot gushed on and on about how he bled Garnet and Black and was a life long Gamecock fan. I'm so sorry he had to slum down to playing at ASU. If he loves the Roosters that much he can keep his ass stay in Columbia.
