We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

If there ever was a "first ballot" Appalachian HOF inductee it would be David and we would declare it David Jackson Day this fall

David is on my Mount Rushmore of people who have influenced Appalachian State athletics. If fact, I can't think of anyone who has meant more to the overall well-being of our program than David.

I teared up a little watching this for the simple fact David shares the same passion as me and many of you with regards to our love for Black & Gold. He will be greatly missed.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:EastHallApp wrote:Does the audio for the Furman "go for 2" play exist anywhere online? As iconic as the Michigan call is, I think that might be my favorite DJ call ever.
Go to the 6:05 mark and play from there.

Keep in mind their were quite a few cronies claimering for Satterfield to be on the hot seat and thinking he was a dud following the 2014 season.mountaineerman wrote:maybe Scott satterfield idkAppersrule wrote:David was a Laney hire. Along with Pollard. Arguably two of the best to come though Appalachian in the past decade. Outside of Jim Fox, who has Charlie hired that has been so great?
Not that I necessarily agree, just playing devils advocate here.

A sad day for App Nation, but I definitely wish him the best. He has certainly earned all the accolades and the right to move forward in his life and his career. One thing that I will miss, among many, is his wry sense of humor - always delivered at the right time and with his signature ease and sharp witt.

Re: David Jackson Resigns
David Jackson will always be "the voice of the program" to me. It is like Woody Durham for CHeat fans, or Bob Harris for Duke fans, I hear David's unique vocals and I am immediately transported to a fall Saturday listening to him call an App State football game. Hell, even up to the last couple seasons, I would mute the TV or ESPN3 app, and have David calling the game from the radio. Highlight reels and pump up videos just will not be the same without the recurring "TOUCHDOWN BLACK & GOLD!!"
God speed, Mr. Jackson, thank you for all that you have contributed to App State Athletics, the University, the community, and the fans.

Oh the memories! David did so much more for this program than call games, I hope we can get someone who will also bleed black and gold. I knew it was not going to be the same when Brownie left the booth and Rick Beasley moved on. Now this. Gotta keep rolling.

I'm also a little surprised that they couldn't work something out where they increase his administrative duties and just let him work football games and hire someone new to do the basketball. But then I'm not at all familiar with the nuts and bolts of an athletic department.

Re: David Jackson Resigns
If something like this was done awhile back, he'd probably still be with ASU. I think the years have taken a toll on him and his family. In other words it was probably be too little too late to offer that to him now. I too could be wrong, but just my interpretation of the situation.fjblair wrote:I'm also a little surprised that they couldn't work something out where they increase his administrative duties and just let him work football games and hire someone new to do the basketball. Re: David Jackson Resigns
David may be more burned out than we realize? The struggle will be if he wants to stay in the play by play business he will be moving from Boone. David could easily handle radio broadcasts for any P5 school, not to mention some Pro teams.

Re: David Jackson Resigns
class act all the way....he even took the time out of his busy schedule to take my high school students on a tour of the athletics complex and all of the media/broadcasting facilities a few years ago, after he personally invited me to do so while talking with him at the Socon tourney. I'll forever be grateful and indebted to him for that. Heck, he even offered to have some students come to Boone on game days to run cameras and participate in the broadcasts. He deserves nothing but the best.
