I booked our hotel last night. Can't wait to see our boys under the lights in Neyland!

This is a win-win. Since it is an away game it doesn't hurt our home attendance. I guarantee you UT will have a full house of 110k for prime time season opener. If we are going to step up and pull off a shocker then no better place than on prime time.

This is unfortunate for those who were going to go but now can't. As has been said it's good for App. It works out well for me also. Will be off for the entire opening weekend

I just hope Tennessee is looking past us to the big stadium game against the Hokies.

It is interesting how so many of our fans whine about this away game moving to a Thursday when I guarantee you that well over 100k Tennessee fans will somehow find a way to make it work and I know that most of them do not live in Knoxville.

Where are the so many? It looks to me like at least 90% are saying they are cool with it.AtlAppMan wrote:It is interesting how so many of our fans whine about this away game moving to a Thursday when I guarantee you that well over 100k Tennessee fans will somehow find a way to make it work and I know that most of them do not live in Knoxville.

I guess since the first 4 responses to this thread from AppState, diehardapp18, bh2oson and kiddbrewer were all negative it made me feel like people whining. I do agree that many others see it as a huge upside for the AppNation's upward spiral to national prominence.

Hey , I did say it made the 100 day countdown closer!AtlAppMan wrote:I guess since the first 4 responses to this thread from AppState, diehardapp18, bh2oson and kiddbrewer were all negative it made me feel like people whining. PS - there is plenty of whining over on the Vols message board about it. But I am sure they will pack it out. http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennesse ... rsday.html

Re: App v Tenn Moved to Thursday Sept 1
Same here...As a teacher, I could take the Friday off and drive to Knoxville for a Saturday game. But take Thursday and Friday off, during the first week of school? There are teachers, principals, and superintendents on the board and they know what I am saying.bh2oson wrote:Hey , I did say it made the 100 day countdown closer!AtlAppMan wrote:I guess since the first 4 responses to this thread from AppState, diehardapp18, bh2oson and kiddbrewer were all negative it made me feel like people whining. However this is a positive for the program. I am already planning to watch the game at one of the local bars on Thursday night.

So, no whining here, just a simple fact of disappointment for not being able to go because I've been looking forward to this for a long time.
Next time I'll put a disclaimer on any posts in the future.

Almost a million people in metro Knoxville. Being a big SEC school lots of walmart fans so not all alumni in the stadium. Boone I would bet my ass more than 90% have alumni connection or are current students.AtlAppMan wrote:It is interesting how so many of our fans whine about this away game moving to a Thursday when I guarantee you that well over 100k Tennessee fans will somehow find a way to make it work and I know that most of them do not live in Knoxville.

Re: App v Tenn Moved to Thursday Sept 1
I was planning on attending the game with my son who lives and works in Knoxville, but now he can't take Thursday night off from work, so I'll be watching it on TV just six feet from the wide screen. The stadium will be packed but there will be far fewer Apps in attendance. Those there will just have to yell a little louder.AtlAppMan wrote:It is interesting how so many of our fans whine about this away game moving to a Thursday when I guarantee you that well over 100k Tennessee fans will somehow find a way to make it work and I know that most of them do not live in Knoxville.

Yes, 7th grade football (7-1 record) and track throwing events. They have no idea how old I am, they just know I'm there everyday.NewApp wrote:Were you still coaching this year, huskie?huskie3 wrote:No problem here!
