Noon ESPN games, first world problems.

Re: Miami game at 12 pm on ESPN or ESPN 2
I think the "complaints" - mine included - come from the perspective of our game day experience. Many of us enjoy tailgating or other pregame routines, and a noon kickoff cuts into that time. That's hardly an original observation.
The trade off is getting to play on ESPN or ESPN2, which is good for the program (if not exactly a program-changer). But personally, I don't care what channel it's on because I plan to be there, and I get ESPNU and ESPN3 anyway, so even if I were at home I'd still be watching it.
But no, it's not a big deal. I'll get an early start and it will still be a landmark day for our program.

Yes saint3333...we're going to be on freaking ESPN...Damn your tailgate time. I don't care if you don't have as much grilling time as you usually do...this is GIGANTIC. And it may not happen again for a while. Enjoy it. Grill sausage and eggs if you have to just show up and be ready.

Perhaps your sarcasm meter was off.
When someone says "first world problems" it implies people are complaining about things they shouldn't be. It's like Americans complaining about having last years model luxury car.
I told people when we made the jump that we'd play a P5 school in Boone in the first five years, this was met by many naysayers.
I love this, I always approve of what's best for the school over my personal inconveniences.

I think many of the naysayers used the reasoning that the stadium had to be renovated, the track removed, 35-40k permanent seats, etc., before any teams from P5 would come to Boone - Personally, I never agreed with that assumption ---

Hey Guys and Gals, just a little thinking outside the box on tailgating ideas. How about a one/two punch, breakfast for pregame and just for fits and giggles and a low country boil for post game. Talk among yourselves, and post your ideas. On a momentous occasion like the first big time home game with a P5 team.

Here were people posting here that said we would NEVER host a P5 at KBS much less Miami. I almost want to check out AGS to see how that bunch is downplaying this game.

I have a good buddy's son that plays for Tulsa and we do 11 am games multiple times per year. We pull out the Memosas and grill breakfast tortillas. More fun and doesn't stop us from a great time. Start early and enjoy the morning. I'll be in Boone for this game and already planning something similar with my buddies from NC. Look at the bright side....it won't be 20 degrees that time of year.

I'm curious and hoping someone can help out. I know we have some weird/restrictive tailgate policies, is there anything preventing tailgating after the game? If not, is alcohol allowed?

Bo-berry biscuits and Patron....Do those mix well? I will find out September 17. Renting a cabin with a large group of people. Took off Friday AND Monday from work. I am anticipating one hell of a weekend.

Gillin made some great changes to the policy last year. One of which allows post-game tailgating for an hour:Yosef10 wrote:I'm curious and hoping someone can help out. 4.2.7 Tailgating will not be permitted during the event, but will be allowed for one hour after an event.
4.3.7 Consumption of alcoholic beverages may begin no more than 3 ½ hours before the starting time of the event. Consumption of alcoholic beverages during the event is prohibited. Consumption of alcoholic beverages will be permitted after the event has officially concluded and for up to one hour thereafter.

I'm hoping for more shifts in the right direction, but you can't topple Sharia tailgating law in one fell swoop.

It's tricky. You are not permitted to consume alcohol during the game. So for anyone leaving early which I hope won't be the case for this game, they have to wait until the game concludes. Once the game concludes, you have one hour to consume alcohol.Yosef10 wrote:I'm curious and hoping someone can help out. You also aren't supposed to drink at your tailgate more than 3.5 hours before the game begins (830 a.m.). Not sure when they will open the lots for tailgating. It's been awhile since I've attended a noon game. If they don't open the lots until 8, then this policy won't be an issue. I hope they have more sense than to only allow 4 hours pre game. Especially if they want the stadium packed at kickoff.
Of course these policies are broken every home game. Just responsibly do whatever you want, and be on the lookout with those monitoring the lots.

The default is no earlier than 9 a.m. also unless otherwise announced./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Yosef10 wrote:You also aren't supposed to drink at your tailgate more than 3.5 hours before the game begins (830 a.m.). I hope others will join me in emailing Gillin and requesting more time. I don't think 5 a.m. is unreasonable.
I might also take the opportunity to lobby for a general extension of the time for alcohol consumption to 4-5 hours prior to kick off.
