Re: Ok!
How we do with #21 and #22 might solidify that! I am optimistic that we will do well this year and hope our men are ready for the task. Early season battles will set the tone. The only G5 members in this list if I'm correct is App and Houston. Nice to be recognized and I hope we're ready to show our stuff.

And Boise State. It's also easy to forget that TCU was CUSA until I think 2011.ASU84 wrote: The only G5 members in this list if I'm correct is App and Houston. Nice to be recognized and I hope we're ready to show our stuff.
Still, good company.

Re: Ok!
Just curious why Southern gets no love in this type list. They have done pretty damn well the last two years (much better than us against P5 competition). Is it 11 wins last year, our brand or past success (3peat, UM) that gets so much attention. Don't get me wrong I think we have something special and the press is awsome, just makes me wonder.

The fact they have a new coaching staff probably has something to do with it. They change coaches more than they change underwear.

You'd have to ask the author, but we were 25, i.e., the last team on the list. Who knows, maybe they were 26?appbio91 wrote:Just curious why Southern gets no love in this type list. Maybe it was our 11 wins; maybe it's the coaching turnover; maybe their gimmick offense is viewed as a ceiling on their level of success. They have been more competitive than we have vs. P5s since moving up, but they haven't beaten any; so while they may spend the summer tweeting highlight videos boasting of their moral victories, no one else really cares.

True and they did lay some serious eggs last year as well despite the bowl win.EastHallApp wrote:You'd have to ask the author, but we were 25, i.e., the last team on the list. Re: Ok!
Even with an App win in Neyland - Oklahoma vs Ohio State has about a 98% chance of getting gameday is Sept 17th.asu1978 wrote:Talk about playing with the big dogs,These first 4 games, get tough or die.If we can have a good showing in Knoxville,I can't help but think Game Day will will be in Boone Sept. 17th.

Re: Ok!
Gameday is not coming. Doesn't matter how we fare at Tennessee, or other games that day. It's impossible to get a crowd of, say, 10,000 on Samford Mall at 11:59 a.m. into the stadium by noon.Appersrule wrote:Even with an App win in Neyland - Oklahoma vs Ohio State has about a 98% chance of getting gameday is Sept 17th.asu1978 wrote:Talk about playing with the big dogs,These first 4 games, get tough or die.If we can have a good showing in Knoxville,I can't help but think Game Day will will be in Boone Sept. 17th.
Now, Sports Center before Gameday is a possibility.

Re: Ok!
The Gameday thing just won't die, will it? Schedule for that day has been posted here a few times - OU-OSU is just one of about a half-dozen major national games that day. Only way Gameday will be at App is on people's TVs in the parking lots.

Re: Ok!
It should end. You can't do Gameday for a game that starts at noon.
Now, I won't entirely rule out Marty Smith recreating The Miracle on the Mountain, though that's still a long shot.

Re: Ok!
This article illustrates exactly what I have been hoping we could achieve "over a 5-10 year period of time" which is becoming a team that is recognized as one of the top teams in FBS. I don't expect us to be considered a top 10 national power but rather a top G5 which is a perennial top 25 level team. This proves that, at least a couple years into this journey, we have started to gain national perception on a national level that we are on such a path. We still have a lot of work to do but it reinforces that argument that this is achievable. This also disproves the naysayers about our decision to move to FBS.
