Re: No Student tickets for Miami game?
Our fans have grown accustomed to getting cheaper tickets in the last 3-4 years. Be it through constant ticket discounts through the promotions department, guest tickets or friend of a friend, it's become normal for those looking to avoid full price.
I'm fine with limiting and high-prices for guest tickets for the Miami game.

True. People can't say they weren't warned about it for this game though.AppDawg wrote:A big reason why our season ticket numbers are rather low./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:The guy I spoke with at the ticket office said it best. This might be the first time in App State football history that many who want to attend the game won't be able to attend the game. App State fans aren't used to not being able to score tickets...That will change for the Miami game.

FWIW...
Spoke to someone in the Athletic Department today. 100% of all students will be able to attend the game. If there are any available GA tickets left, they'll be available for them to purchase as student guest tickets. That said, they do not expect any of those tickets to be available after this week.

So basically it's going to sell out before they're actually available to the public on Aug 2?

I fully expect so. As a season ticket holder you can purchase between 4 and 8 reserved seats and 4 GA seats. A quick calculation using the following assumptions:Yosef10 wrote:

- 8,000 season tickets
- 3 ticketaverage per season ticket holder (2,600 season ticket holders)
- each holder purchases 4 tickets on average (for friends or resale (I didn't, but I know some did))
8000 season tickets, 11,000 additional tickets purchase by season ticket holders for friends, holding back 12,000 tickets for students.
That's 31k.

With some held back for gameday walkups, the announced attendance will be 33,400. We all hope!

Does anyone know how Miami is doing on their allotment of tickets?

Re: No Student tickets for Miami game?
I checked their website a few weeks ago, and you have to be a member of their booster club to request tickets to any road game. No idea if they've sold all of them for our game, or what they would do if they don't.mountaineerman wrote:Does anyone know how Miami is doing on their allotment of tickets?

I mean I get that this was a great opportunity to get more season ticket holders and Yosef club members but I'm not a fan of the strong arming done. And maybe I'm looking at it wrong. I'm OK with Yosef club members getting a chance to get tickets but I don't agree with season ticket holder and Yosef club members being able to match their total to order extras. All that being said, I understand it's a business decision and done to ultimately help App in the long run.

Re: No Student tickets for Miami game?
The way I see it is that the goal of the Yosef Club is to support our 450+ student athletes financially. I always keep that as #1. There are just a handful of avenues for raising the $5,000,000 or so needed to fund fully all of our athletic scholarships. The two avenues most familiar to most of us are ticket sales and Yosef Club donations.Yosef10 wrote:

Now consider that only football and basketball (baseball, too?) of our 20 sports charge for tickets. That puts the bulk of the fundraising pressure on football tickets and donations.
All of that adds up to needing to come up with ways to make our football "product" attractive enough for people to want to buy tickets and make donations. The athletic department has put together a great home slate for us. The coaches and players are serious about their training and are ready to win. We truly have something worth watching! Everything the athletic department has done seems to have been designed to make a ticket to an App football game a coveted thing to have.
I'm thankful to have had a chance to get a few extra tickets for friends I'd like to have join me in supporting Yosef. I look forward to the day that every game at The Rock is a sellout just as I look forward to the day that the Yosef Club can fund fully the scholarships for all of our athletes.

I get the frustration but you can join the Yosef Club even at a lower level and help our student athletes.

I'd expect something similar next year for Wake.

It comes with the territory. The higher we go the more of that you will have. It is not cheap to play at this level. We actually have it VERY easy.Yosef10 wrote:Saint3333 wrote:I fully expect so. Re: No Student tickets for Miami game?
To preserve the ability to take in and seat every student, the smart move for Doug and company is to simply not sell any student guest tickets. Can you imagine the uproar if student guest tickets are sold prior and then on game day they had to turn students away? I'd be pissed, you'd be pissed. We don't want to see that day for a long time, if ever. The day they have to turn a student away is going to be a really tough day, and I'm sure they do not want that cloud hanging over the biggest game (opponent wise) to happen at the rock.
Students pay athletic fees and it's important we maintain and grow our student support. I really hope they don't drop the ball on this.

Re: No Student tickets for Miami game?
I'm hearing from reliable sources that student admission will be honored as is always the case, but that extra tickets for students' friends/guests may not be available due to supply and demand.appfan22 wrote:I am hearing unconfirmed rumblings from higher up positions in the student government of potential talks about limiting/not allowing student passes for the Miami game. Obviously students will take to the streets over this, but what are the thoughts about it?
Any chance you could be convinced to click on the editing tool "the pencil" and correct the wording of your topic. It is misleading. I'm sure you didn't join the MMB this week and post your first message with the intention of starting a panic protest. It would be terrific if you'd take time to fix it.
BTW, welcome to the MMB. Fall sports will soon be here.

When I ordered my extra tix yesterday, I was told that an email about guest tix would be sent out sometime today.
