I wish he didn't decline performing at the Miami game; I think that'd be awesome. But he shouldn't have our entrance song IMO. Way to narrow of a demographic..

What, the Appalachain Alumni demo? Seems pretty narrow to me.

Maybe we could also involve the autotune guys of "bed intruder" fame... They are alumni also. Will that expand the demo you speak of?

While the race demographic is fairly narrow at Appalachian, age is not. Is quite a bit heavier on the under 34 side. Not saying I do not like Eric Church just to be clear, I just think other music will get a broader audience more pumped up. So, yes it's not the race but more the age demographic and that is pretty significant. Also, I do not listen to auto tune crap. I actually have a very eclectic taste of music, more than most.

The App demographic is way more diverse than this board (e.g. White 45 year old male with 2 kids, listens to mostly country and lives in suburb of a city in NC).

I was being sarcastic. Just taking a shot saying "we are all Appalachian." I def was not going to race. I knew what you were saying agewise, though I have seen something recently that the average age of our Alumni is 34-35.

Also, if true EC turned us down, I hate to hear it. Things that make you go hmmmm.

I think rock music, particularly instrumentals, are the way to go for entrance music. I posted Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home earlier, but there are others that would be great as well. Tantric - Down and Out and Shinedown - Cut the Cord come to mind right away.

A true entrance song tradition is rare, and until established (e.g. Enter Sandman at VT, 2001/Sandstorm at USC) some borrowing/recycling of entrance songs from other programs will inevitably take place. For instance, several of the songs suggested here have been used in previous years at other programs - in the early 2000s NCSU used Drowning Pool - Bodies and then later P.O.D. - Boom; and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Most programs create a video montage of highlights from seasons past and set it to music; that song remaining in place as the video changes year in and year out is actually rare. I highly recommend searching "Welcome to Williams-Brice" and pick any of the years listed... The speech remains the same each season, as the clips change, naturally. I think something similar to this would work very well at KBS, create a meaningful speech about KBS, its transformations, and its teams through the years. Regardless of song/video/montage/etc., Sean Connery's "Gentlemen, welcome to the Rock" should be the last thing before the fireworks, I think we can all agree on that, and THAT, not a song, should be our tradition. Tradition cannot be forced into being; even the songs and schools I mentioned above stumbled into theirs - VT landed on Enter Sandman because the 2 video directors couldn't agree for that season and settled the dispute with an arm wrestling match only to then see and hear the crowd's response be so overwhelming, playing anything else would have been foolish. USC played Sandstorm during a TV timeout and saw the stadium react so well it was played 3 timeouts in row that game, to the same fan fare. It's the crowd/team reaction that entrenched those staples at those schools, and that's what it will take at KBS.

Should a song come along that evokes such a response that changing it is no longer an option, great, but it will have to happen naturally. Whether this season starts to Outsiders, or any of the other songs suggested here, remains to be seen, along with how the crowd and team react. Until then, lets let the creative genius within the video department work itself out and hope whatever they land on prevents a thread such as this next off season.

P.S. - anything will be better than when we slow jammed to Kenny Chesney's Boys of Fall in the late 2000's.

We start with the bells from AC/DC...thenPlay this one above while showing highlight clips edit/finish on a Big note and then Connery Welcome to the Rock! Then Fireworks. .Then we need a cheer when we kickoff a loud coordinated crowd noise...since it seems Buglers Dream was used sparingly. Lastly we need microphones near the band to be piped into the PA system. I have not been able to hear them well in 205.

Pretty clear SC is copy catting the heck out of LSU's saturday night in death valley video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqKthXGYAOQ

Be careful putting the band on the PA system. Saw that in Ann Arbor the second game. There was an awful delay/echo that sounded really bad.

Lots of respect and love to the B of D! I think as our numbers grow the sound will get stronger. One of mine was a member of FSU's Marching Chiefs. 450+ instruments on field and in the stands during his 4 years.

BTW, it is great to be back home in WNC
