Then there are another 15-20 that are worth discussing (most of which have a huge reputationial advantage over us).
I threw out a topic along those lines a while back- listing the P5's that we should beat, could beat and might not really have a shot to beat. Got some good opinion. IMO once you get past, say the top 10 you can make arguments one way or the other for ranking. Can anyone really argue who the 19th best team is right now?

I don't think we have earned a top 25 spot yet, but to do everything but beat the #9 team and lose votes is crazy. I'd say the only G5 team that is clearly better is Houston, and then there are around 30 P5 teams that could easily make an argument that they are better than use. After that its hard to justify having them above us.

If we win convincingly this week and then beat Miami we would have a very strong case for being ranked.

That's where I am. The polls are fairly useless. I have no idea who the 19th best team is. But Ole Miss and Baylor happen to be ranked 19th in the polls. We're not there right now. That's my point.

Let's take a stab at the P5's

ACC- Louisville, Clemson, FSU, UNC, Miami (TBD)
Big 12- Baylor, OK St, WVU, OK, Texas and TCU (maybe)
Big 10- Mich St, Mich, Ohio St, PSU, Iowa, Neb and Wisconsin
Independent- ND, BYU (maybe)
Pac 12- Cal, Oregon, Stanford, Washington, Az St, Az, USC (maybe), Utah
SEC- UT (ugh), Fl, UGA, Al, Ark (?), LSU, Ole Miss

That's about 35 then possibly add in Boise and Houston from G5's. A little tough to make a solid top 25 argument but it's impossible to know without playing every team.

We will know much, much more in a few short weeks.

Cal is on your list of Pacific 12 schools that are better than we are, but San Diego St. (who is a 7.5 points home fave v. Cal) is not on your Group of 5 list?

Is SDS at P5? Wasn't really considering the G5 teams and I wasn't really insiduating that we would lose to any of those teams. Just a quick thought of a list of P5's who would probably considered better than us.

You had Houston (AAC) and Bosie St. (MWC) on your list. I was just saying that SDSU (probably the best team in the MWC) was not on your list.

Well beating ODU should do nothing for us as far as ranking. Miami is ranked 25 so that will probably not get us ranked either but that depends on what everyone else does. If we win both we will get some votes.

Let us not forget that it wasn't very long ago that we were feverishly trying to "escape" the Bottom 10 and some of our "fans" wanted everyone fired. even posting "For Sale" signs in front of houses??? - I would say we have come a hellava long way from those days !!!
