Does anyone else snowboard in the area? I'm coming up on my 7th year in Boone and this is my first season with a pass to Sugar. (Though I've been riding the whole time I've been here.)

Re: Winter Sports
I only make it up about 2 times a year now to ski. Sold my board about 9 years ago. But had a pass at App for a few years and then taught for a year there my last year at App.

I do, Sugar is by far the best mountain for all mountain riding. I was on the snowboard team (racing, not jumping). We practiced at Sugar. App has the best terrain park if your looking to jump. The new lift and the new slope has taken the mountain to the next level. You will love your pass.

Re: Winter Sports
2 of the main reasons I went with Sugar. Gunther's is easily the best run in NC and that lift is so damn fast. Rides went from 2 beers down to a quick chug on 1 lol.HBTApps wrote:I do, Sugar is by far the best mountain for all mountain riding. I was on the snowboard team (racing, not jumping). I'm pretty excited. I had around 12-14 days on the snow last season, I'm looking to at least double that this year.

Re: Winter Sports
Have been up to Sugar the past 2 seasons and it was great. Got a cheap condo on Sugartop through Craigslist (saved a bunch of the excessive taxes and fees). We have two, now 13 year old boys who both snow boarded and mastered the big hills quickly. Dropped them off several times at the road near Oma's meadow. They make the short walk then board down. New lift is great as well and can move a ton of people fast.
