Caruso looked great on that final TD.

Guess I'm just getting antsy......been a long long long time since we have had a real stud QB going back to AE and Richie days ......I realize at the level we are now may be long long time before we see one again.

I really don't know what you guys expect for our QB. Players like Armanti come around like once every 50 yearsCornCobPipes wrote:Guess I'm just getting antsy......been a long long long time since we have had a real stud QB going back to AE and Richie days ......I realize at the level we are now may be long long time before we see one again.

Re: ODU Game Day chat
Playing a game like ODU I was just hoping to see a hint of some good passing game. Other than a wide ipen TE a few times I was not really impressed much. It still looks like Taylor delays too much and too slow on lot of pass plays. The play is gone by the time he gets the ball there.

Complaining already?
That was a great win by the team. Rubino looked like he made some adjustments from last week. WRs are finding their roles. This is going to be a great season!

Taylor is good and plays mentally tough most of time. His stats make him better than he is because he plays smart.

Lamb is almost a clone of Satterfield. He's not the prettiest, and he won't wow you like Armanti, but he is a winner. Good enough for me.

We covered the spread, saw a better North-South passing game. Rubino nailed his kicks. Improvements from last week, bring on Miami!!

Taylor's fine he just needs to put some zip on the ball sometimes I know he don't have a strong arm but he can zip it better than he demonstrates at times. Sometimes it's just the release is slow.....some plays are designed for that but think I've made my point.

Re: ODU Game Day chat
Just my take. We rolled the first four times we touched the ball. Scored the first three times. By the end of the first quarter I figured the game was over, and by the score it was. As a 53 year old who loves football, I should have known better. How many of you were thinking the same thing? If I was, I bet several of you were also. If we were, what are 18 to 22 year olds thinking? I am afraid that we almost took ourselves out of the game mentally with everything coming so fast and almost easy. OD was the most dangerous type opponent you can have, one with nothing to lose. They rolled the dice more than once, and we still pulled away and won. I agree, there is work to be done, but I am not hitting the panic button yet. The U will be tough, but I have confidence that we will win!!

The Miami game is the reason for my strict critiquing because they will match up totally different than Tennessee.

Regarding passing, the 1st play of the game was a beautiful down field pass.
Also, once Burns got hurt, I think SS said "survive and advance."

Taylor's a stud. You know he broke AE's single-season touchdown passes record last year?CornCobPipes wrote:Guess I'm just getting antsy......been a long long long time since we have had a real stud QB going back to AE and Richie days ......I realize at the level we are now may be long long time before we see one again.
At the beginning of today's game he was 6 for 6, 102 yards and a touchdown. He gets the job done.

Re: ODU Game Day chat
I just feel as if they throttled ODU in the beginning, got themselves a comfortable lead, realized that our defense was no match for their offense and then just kind of took it easy for the rest of the game and saved themselves for Miami.
A wins a win, it was obvious that we were the better team and I don't feel that they were going 100% but then again they didn't really need to. Next week they'll be full boar.

Re: ODU Game Day chat
The boys won me $100 covering the spread. Maybe the rest of you should place the same bet and you wouldn't have as much to complain about. We got a comfortable win and Taylor did what he's been doing for 3 years. No he's not the most athletic but damn if he isn't good.

I saw where Meadors didn't start in the WR lineup today. He was also only targeted once from what I saw.

Re: ODU Game Day chat
That is going to be a serious issue if the receivers can't step it up soon. I kept waiting for us to lay 50 on them but it simply got kind of boring. What was the "fake field goal" play? Had fun talking to a few players on the field and my boys got pics and we had fun.Rekdiver wrote:Bingo!appfanz wrote:Part of Taylor's issue was his receivers couldn't get open
