Re: Marcus Cox?
Left quad injury. Slow to heal, but our trainers have all the know-how and cutting-edge facilities to get him well asahp. My best guess based on zero inside info is that he's doubtful for Akron. If he's the least bit sore on Sat. AM, he sits. No way Satterfield risks the rest of the season on one non-conference game.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Amazing how a season can turn. We entered Fall camp with a stable of running backs. First, Upshaw is declared ineligible, then Boyd goes down with an injury, and now Cox. All of a sudden we are thin there having to rely on a true freshman as the backup. It was good to see JMoore finally show some life. He likely will get even more opportunities in the coming week.

Re: Marcus Cox?
My father-in-law said he took a helmet to his thigh pad against Southern Cal in 1967 and it's still sore sometimes. . . he started the next Saturday and played through. He was a right guard so not as mobile and football in the 60's was a bit different. Anyway, that's to say Marcus is probably gonna be sore for a while, but he could be back on the field Saturday.
I agree that Moore seemed to get his legs under him with more touches, which is good news.

Re: Marcus Cox?
I hope Cox is back in action real soon.
I have also notice that some other players are not being used.
1. #2 Ike Lewis. -- is he injured? He played a lot last year.
2. #12 Brandon Pinckney -- is he playing?
3. #15 Mock Adams --- Really promising 6'4" WR. Is he injured? Was looking to see him this year. Any News.
4. #16 Jake Easter --- Yes we is the 3rd QB, but there has always been talk of him playing somewhere else. Any News?
5. #17 Tae Hayes --- Think he has played a little, not sure. I think he could use redshirt since he was a true freshman last year.
6. #30 Vinson, George --- Now listed as a TE. He was great when he played before.
7. #72 Fernandez, Tyson --- Think he played a little. Is he injured. He is a senior
8. #77 Taylor, Alex --- He is 6'9". Needs to play somewhere. I did read that played some TE in high school. Listed as a Backup RT
9. #8 Josh Boyd --- Yes he is injured. Is he coming back this year? Running backs getting really thin. Any change the redshirt will be lifted on 3star RB Williams, Jr., Marcus.
There may be others.
Get Thin fast. Really need to find a way to beat Akron. Will not be easy.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Not sure about Lewis. Boyd I think should be back relatively soon based on initial projection, but who knows. Marcus Williams also injured, likely medical redshirt. Taylor sounds like a project. Easter 3rd QB at best - I think he eventually changes positions but that's JMO. Others have all played varying amounts in reserve I believe.mtd Security wrote:I hope Cox is back in action real soon.

Re: Marcus Cox?
1. Lewis-Injured-No time frame for return known
2. Pinckney-#2 CB behind Duck. On participation report for Tenn. No stats recorded.
3. Adams-#2 at the X behind Meadors. On participation report for all games. No stats listed.
4. Easter. #3 QB for now. Will not see game action unless needed. If Lamb or Caruso is injured staff will decide whether to pull a shirt from one of the Fr QB's or make Easter #2. Practice will decide that.
5. Hayes- OR CB with Williams. Has played in all games. No stats for Tenn. 3 tackles against ODU. 1 asst against Miami.
6. Vinson- In the HB/TE spot. Not on any participation report so far.
7. Fernandez- #2 LG behind Collmar. Has played in each game and also played NT in the Miami game with 1 asst tackle.
8. Taylor- #2 RT behind Nunn. No time seen yet. Word is he still needs some more development but has improved since spring.
9. Boyd- Injured as noted. Reported high ankle sprain. Anyone who follows football knows you can never give a time table for return with that injury. Hopefully sooner rather than later. And Williams is out for the year with injury that occurred in camp.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Even if he could go v. Akron, I'd be surprised to see him start. If Moore and Evans can get the job done, no reason to push it.

Re: Marcus Cox?
There is a chance Josh Boyd will be back for Akron - initially the goal was for him to be back by Miami but he was held out an additional week ---

He played against ODU as well. Not sure about UT. I don't believe the plan was ever to redshirt him.HeffnerIV wrote:If I'm not mistaken, Evans lost his redshirt Saturday since we had to use him.

Re: Marcus Cox?
As usual for App, "day-to-day" means he's on crutches:
On the plus side, sounds like Josh Boyd will be available today.

Re: Marcus Cox?
Somehow I thought Marcus' injury was more of a deep bruise or something of that nature. Seeing him on crutches made me wonder if he has a tear or something else. I can't imagine if he's on crutches now he'll be playing any time soon. Jalin Moore is a really good back who's going to be great but while he has the speed I don't think he has Marcus' run sense. The way Marcus plants his foot, to move quickly right or left to find an unexpected hole just can't be taught overnight. We are so lucky to have Jalin, but Marcus is the beast we need to win out. Any thoughts?
