In addition, some are putting to much emphasis on their performance against Marshall. Marshall isn't the team of "yesteryear" when Randy Moss was there. I'd put them at about the same level as a middle of the pack SB team.

Don't know how good they are this year, but they won 33 games the previous three seasons. If they're as bad as you think, that would be a pretty big dropoff that not many people expected before the season.

I'll admit I was probably off base with the middle of the pack SB team comment. To clarify, I'm not saying they (Marshall) are bad (an average FBS team), just not as good as some are implying. I'm basing a lot on what a co-worker (a Marshall grad) has stated. In relation to this weekend's contest, I would not put any more weight into Akron's big win over Marshall than I would Miami's dominance over us. However, we definitely need to show up this week for sure. No doubt this weekend's game will be very telling.

Agreed, this weekend will be a good gauge as to how we measure up to the top tier SB teams.

I actually think this is our first game that we can use to gauge the quality of our team this year. And frankly, that has me a little concerned. Hoping the Miami sting motivates our guys to play like they can play and we put it all together against Akron.

On a side note, I see where Akron has run back a punt return for a TD in each of their last two games. Thus, beware special teams. Also, as was the case with Marshall, if you turn the ball over they will make you pay. Stay focused!

Just looked at WMYA Channel 40 in Greenville, SC schedule for Saturday at 3:30pm (ASN) and the schedule has the following:

Why in the heck are they playing this game in lieu of App vs Akron ? I just don't get it.

Saw that as well. BC is terrible! They have lost 14 in a row and if you DON'T count that lone victory in 2014 against "College of Faith", then the streak goes back further. Their last NCAA win was Nov 9 2013 against Tusculum. Pitiful with no support from that town. They are dropping to D3 in 2017 which won't help considering they've already lost to Emory and Henry this year, a fellow D3 team. Ugh.

Looks like ESPN 3 for me.

Extremely concerned about this game. The blueprint it out there on our defense to beat us in the flats on short routes and alignments that give us trouble on deep balls. That plus our lack of passing attack to date could be trouble as I think we'll need to score 35 minimum.

ASN isn't a channel. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting and the programming is distributed on their local channels throughout the country.

First, let's all acknowledge that Miami was the much better team. In 10 contests against them, we might win once. But, in fairness the game could have been closer (something that can be said about almost any game). To me, there were three plays that made the most significant difference in the outcome. The first was Miami's first play from scrimmage. A play where our defense is in perfect position to stuff the runner but a missed tackle leads to an 80 yard TD. The second significant play was the Cox TD nullified by the holding penalty. And finally, the long bomb they completed on third down in the possession right after we scored to make it 24-10. Reverse the results in those three plays and it could have been a closer game. But, Miami was able to stem the tide every time we tried to gain some momentum.

One of my favorite quotes is from a fellow named Max O'Rell.
"Luck means the hardships and privations which you have not hesitated to endure, the long nights you have devoted to work. Luck means the appointments you have never failed to keep; the trains you have never failed to catch."

In most cases, we create our own luck (my opinion). We didn't do a very good job of that last Saturday. We'll do better this week.

If you get the expanded Sports Package, then DirecTV is carrying the game on Channel 665. I will be tuned into this channel tomorrow.

Here in Akron. Well actually Canton, but we went out to their campus earlier. Very nice and super stadium. They were hosting a HS game between 2 Catholic powerhouses tonite. Huge tailgate. Security guard told me they expected over 15k for the game. He said they expected less than 5k for the Zips game tomorrow. Go figure.

I see that as well. Also showing up on WMYV-Channel 48 out of Greensboro which earlier in the week said the game was not available in our area.

I think our defense and our corners are better than we think. Played great at UT and didn't break against ODU. I among many who think Miami might just be legit. They have the team to go top 10. No crime getting lit up by a top 10. There was no room for error against that team and we made too many errors.
