I'd say it's pretty close to a 100% chance that any new building in the near future (4-5 years) will be in the North end zone and replace Owens Field House. Especially considering that the rendering of the new video board showing it's placement ON the current hill makes it highly unlikely that we would do any significant regrading of the hill or that area.EastHallApp wrote:BTW, I had never actually seen the view from the hill or track before this weekend, but we walk around the walkway Saturday, and I was actually surprised at how good the view of the field was from back there. Now more convinced it would be a great area for premium seats now, even better if we can lose the track and move the hill closer.

If the video board goes where it appears in the rendering, you're absolutely right. But it's just a rendering, so I'm not sure how final the exact placement is.Appftw wrote:I'd say it's pretty close to a 100% chance that any new building in the near future (4-5 years) will be in the North end zone and replace Owens Field House. I'm not necessarily thinking a major building in the South end zone. I'm on record as saying I think the best use would be to leave the hill open for grass seating and line the walkway with reserved box seating/cafe tables.

I'm new which is fine but I know whats gonna happen and it hasn't been approved yet. Until the board approves of the price nothings happening. I will tell you 3 things:
1. Track is gone!
2. Owens going down and new building is designed to not block Howards Knob!
3. We will be able to walk around the whole stadium on one level finally!

Re: New Vision for The Rock
I'm just some idiot typing in a message board, but to me it is safe to say scheduling the in-state Wakes, ECUs, maybe Dukes and occasional NCSUs and UNCs will lead to a dramatic change in our need for more.. I know UNCheat ain't coming here anytime soon in your heads.... but we got them to come to Holmes. I assume consistently full crowds will include more proper and audited seating. We'll be seeing G5s at The Rock over the next 5 years that might be the NY bowl choice; hell we will be the G5 New Year team if we actually want and build for it. 3 years ago we lost to A&T at home. This year we hosted Miami...... yeah I know it was a fluke but it happened. We should prepare for more people, but with that in this modern time frame we also need affordability. "Poor" seating should match GA hill prices. Sink the field or do whatever you must because of the tracks, but make seats for butts. The ability to finally watch games on "TV" streaming ESPN3 or not will lose its novelty eventually, especially with a winning team. People want to be there. Winning will do that.

I know from friends that some of the folks who gave at the $3,333 level are getting the suite passes as early as this week. I don't know about the other doo-dads.WVAppsfan wrote:When we will have access to the promotional items for donating to the campaign fund?

Re: New Vision for The Rock
Somehow I doubt they'll "demote" (is that what you meant by "demoed"?) some of those folks you speak of since some of the donors in that first row have given hundreds of thousands of dollars. Others in the first several rows are merely consistent / constant donors who give in the $5,000 - $10,000 range each year. Wouldn't it seem more likely that they renumber folks in the Stadium lot based on current year donation and point rank within that donation level?smokeshow wrote:Also some people with parking spots within the first 2-4 rows of stadium lot gonna be unhappy when they get demoed.
For example, I can't see moving a Tommy Sofield type donor from the front row of the Stadium lot to the back row and leaving everyone else exactly where they were.
We'll just have to wait and see.

"demoed" = demolished. But I think you're right about the ultimate effect - I'm sure the people with the best spots before will still have the best spots.DaphneUrquhart wrote:Somehow I doubt they'll "demote" (is that what you meant by "demoed"?) some of those folks you speak of since some of the donors in that first row have given hundreds of thousands of dollars. Thanks. The ultimate impact would almost have to be the same. If there are fewer spots in the Stadium lot, the premium to park there simply goes up. It's a supply and demand thing. Who knows? There may come a day when my annual $5,000+ donation nets me a spot in Duncan ... or Liberry. Time will tell.EastHallApp wrote:

Oh I agree I'm just saying they may be upset that those spots won't be there anymore. I'm sure they will still get the best stops dependent upon giving. Also there are talks of building a parking deck in stadium lot I'm not exactly sure when though.

Re: New Vision for The Rock
A parking deck on the lower half of the stadium lot would be great. Make the top a grass covered park to add greenery and a sanford mall type area for students to walk out of their dorm for pickup sports. The grass can have the mesh that can support vehicles and become an awesome tailgate parking on the grass for home games....smokeshow wrote:Oh I agree I'm just saying they may be upset that those spots won't be there anymore. I have suggested a parking deck in stadium lot with track/soccer field on the top level for years..smokeshow wrote:Oh I agree I'm just saying they may be upset that those spots won't be there anymore.
