Re: A-State vs. Gawja Suthun discussion
GS's problem is their oline, they have two good QBs (who appear hurt), great RBs, and actually solid WRs.
Their defense surprisingly didn't move well on lateral runs, hope Hopkins gets healthy for us before that game.
GS does have the best kicker in the league.

Hi Happ, hope all is going well. I guess tomaato tomauto.... I think they're doing both, wasting rbs. and trying to make a triple option qb throw. Are we going back to the future????

Re: A-State vs. Gawja Suthun discussion
Southern's run blocking is horrendous to the fact that I'm almost more worried about their passing game with #12 BJ Johnson. He has strong hands and Ellison was surprisingly the most accurate that I've ever seen him throw (which isn't saying much).
See rushing stat from last night below and let that sink in...our OL better be licking their chops. Those two 310+lb jelly monsters Southern has in the middle sure looked gassed early in the 4th!
AState - 343
Southern - 162

That was a very strange football game. Hard to believe that ArkSt had 5 turnovers, numerous penalties and yet somehow managed to win the game. Funny how the Wolves always pick their game up when the Belt games start.

Re: A-State vs. Gawja Suthun discussion
It would surprise me. Last year they lost to USC, Missouri (barely) and a top 25 Toledo team; they didn't lost to an FCS; and most importantly they had Knighten coming back from injury to bail them out. Their OOC schedule this year was not as tough, and they did even worse against it.T-Dog wrote:The bad thing is that A-State could go 8-0 in the Sun Belt (they do play Troy) and be co-champs if we go 8-0. And honestly, if we go 8-0, it won't bother me that much whatever happens with the teams we don't play. Would prefer to be alone at the top, of course, but as long as the guys get their rings I'm happy.

I watched parts of the game - I, too, was surprised that GaSo passed so much - I never did really see a shot that showed the crowd - what did the attendance look like? ---

I agree that they are wasting their stable of backs.

Re: A-State vs. Gawja Suthun discussion
Two big differences this year compared to last though. 1) All 3 losses were to good teams last year while this year they lost to an average Utah State team, and FCS Central Arkansas. 2) The losses last year were also when they didn't have Knighten at QB. When he came back their offense was a different animal. He can't save them this year.T-Dog wrote:The bad thing is that A-State could go 8-0 in the Sun Belt (they do play Troy) and be co-champs if we go 8-0. Wouldn't surprise me. Re: A-State vs. Gawja Suthun discussion
I get that as fans we're free to look ahead and speculate, but I wish people would stop talking like we've got the conference championship locked up. As if us and stAte both winning out and winding up tied is the worst thing that could happen. We haven't put together a complete game since Tennessee. Plenty of football left to be played.
