Attendance
After 4 home games, App State has an average of 27,436
I think that puts us leading the Sun Belt.

Re: Attendance
In 2007 the attendance at the Lenoir-Rhyne was almost 29k. I don't think that was because L-R travels particularly well. I feel sure that had we won the UT game 30k would have made it to this year's home opener. Beating P5 and ranked opponents is essential.YesAppCan wrote:After 4 home games, App State has an average of 27,436

Re: Attendance
Our attendance back in "the day" was not driven by opponent's fans. Only a few opponents EVER brought a significant number of fans to Boone (WCU, GSU, Elon). Even Furman and Wofford rarely brought more than a handful with any regularity. The local HBCU's traveled pretty well (SCSU & NCA&T mostly) but we didn't have ongoing series with them.

Re: Attendance
Yep. I was just trying to expand and agree with your comment. I think some folks have a bit of euphoric recall when it comes to the glory years. The issues of fans leaving early, lack of noise, fans not standing and cheering.....all have been topics for as long as I can remember.appgrad95&97 wrote:That was my exact point.Yosef84 wrote:Our attendance back in "the day" was not driven by opponent's fans. We are leading the conference by over 3K per game. I would say that is pretty good.YesAppCan wrote:After 4 home games, App State has an average of 27,436

Re: Attendance
We just need 23,128 to attend each of the last 2 games to have a season average of 26k. We'd need to bring in 26,128 to attend each of the last 2 games to keep the 27k average.

Less than 600 seats left for that game so no worries there.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote:I'd imagine Family Weekend will be pretty good, too. At least north of 23k.

Re: Attendance
Will say Nov 5th would appear to be pretty packed based on every hotel being booked that weekend and tickets available appear to be slim.

Who cares what the others are doing, that's like being the tallest 'little person'. We need to get back to where we were and grow from that so this program can grow.Goapps15 wrote:We are leading the conference by over 3K per game. Re: Attendance
Ever think it could it be the quality of opponents? I mean Georgia Southern and Western usually packed in the house in the SoCon days, but in reality outside of that, who in this conference do people circle on their calendar as must-see games? Idaho, New Mexico State, Texas State? These wouldn't have the same draws as say regular games against say a Marshall or an ECU might have since school like that (along with GASO) have a history with us.
Maybe it's because we're still new to the Sun Belt, although I could see Arkansas State and maybe Troy games becoming potential head-turners, but we really aren't having any UNC/NC State, Clemson/USC, UT/VT, Alabama/Auburn type games that rile up the fanbase to get out and scream like those aforementioned match ups.

Re: Attendance
Dude, we're not going back to FCS. How exactly do you "grow" from there when you won 3 national championships and 11 SoCon championships as well as having one of the top FCS attendances in the nation already? If anything we OUTGREW the FCS and even with the numbers still have better attendance than a lot of the teams in the Sun Belt, MAC and C-USA conferences have. So unless there is a catastrophic collapse in both funding and talent any talk of "going back" is nonsense.App91 wrote:Who cares what the others are doing, that's like being the tallest 'little person'. Re: Attendance
I believe he meant "going back" in more of a figurative sense, as in going back to where we were before anyone thought attendance was an issue, not literally going back to FCS.hotrod2001 wrote:Dude, we're not going back to FCS. Budd I hate to break it to you 27,400 would be the highest attendance for a full season since 2010.App91 wrote:Who cares what the others are doing, that's like being the tallest 'little person'. You can see the negative all you want but we have had better attendance than Marshall this year too. In the ballpark with Southern Miss. We just beat the hell out of GSU. Enjoy it.

I don't care if we average 35k, the amount of people leaving at halftime is what really bothers me.

Dude...get back to, meaning a full house with a raucous crowd. grow meaning fanbase, attendance and $$. Sorry, thought that was fairly clear.hotrod2001 wrote:Dude, we're not going back to FCS. Guess you did not listen to the pregame interview with DG yesterday regarding midweek games, etc. Said exactly the same thing. We are a box office league, tv money is not what drives, we need asses in seats to make money, grow the athletic dept. increase funding. That is the bottom line. Again, we cannot be concerned with what Marsha or any sun belt school is doing, we have to do us.

Re: Attendance
Running a business you have to look forward. Whats the negative, it is just a fact ticket sales to football games fund the athletic dept. Yes we are doing well this year due to Miami, hopefully Wake helps next year. DG mentioned same in pregame interview, we have to put people in the seats to grow, who cares what others are doing, we have to be better than those.Goapps15 wrote:Budd I hate to break it to you 27,400 would be the highest attendance for a full season since 2010.App91 wrote:Who cares what the others are doing, that's like being the tallest 'little person'. That's fair then. I was just off base from where you were coming from. The midweek games for the bigger gates has to stop.App91 wrote:Running a business you have to look forward.
