MSOC: App State @ Ga South 7 PM Stink Creek Field at Erk Russell Park

Our strikers (5-7-4, 1-2-1 Sun Belt ) are at Ga South tonite to wrap up the regular season and establish 'Belt Tourney seeds. It's way beyond a worn-out cliche' to say that this is the most important match of the season.

First, the iggles (7-7-3, 2-1-1 Sun Belt) are one win ahead of the Apps in the standings. An App win earns a tie and the tie-breaker with our "hated" rival.

Second, our Mountaineers currently hold a 15-13-1 series edge over the Eagles, but GS leads 6-5 in Statesboro. The Eagles have won the last three matches, all 1-0 decisions and have earned a positive result in the last four matches with the Mountaineers. That fourth match was a scoreless draw played in Boone.

Rant: In case you weren't counting, the Apps haven't scored a goal on GS in more than three years. That's a ridiculous stat; and it has to be put to an end.

This GS team is hard to figure. They have some big wins over strong teams; but suffered an embarrassing loss to lowly Howard on the road a week ago. Look for them to be on their game on their Senior Night against the Apps.

Ga South 3, Apps 1 Final

Senior MF/F Keegan Tanaka of Austin (TX) James Bowie SHS scored for the Apps in the 69th minute--his first goal of the season. With that goal, the Apps will have narrowly avoided a fifth straight shutout by GSU. That's the only highlight I can salvage. Looks as if the Apps will finish fifth in a six-team league for the third straight season. Coach O'Keefe *really* has his recruiting work cut out for him.
