Bowls typically don't want the same teams in consecutive seasons.EastHallApp wrote:Be interested to hear why you're so certain. Seems like a strong possibility to me.T-Dog wrote:We're not going to the Camellia Bowl.
The bowl picking order is a guideline, not a rule. For instance, Idaho is almost for-sure going to the Arizona Bowl.
If UL-Lafayette is bowl eligible, then the NOLA Bowl will take them and their 40,000 Cajun ticket buyers. Otherwise, they'll take the Sun Belt Champion.

I would agree with that assessment. Ticket sales for the same bowl may be down this year, especially if our opponent is a 6-6 team. Besides, if USA can become bowl eligible, I think they get Montgomery. Just my guess.

I know most of the sources in Jonesboro have you guys penciled in for Mobile while we go to Montgomery.T-Dog wrote:Bowls typically don't want the same teams in consecutive seasons.EastHallApp wrote:Be interested to hear why you're so certain. There are a few notable situations that send App to Montgomery.
1. Arkansas State wins out and takes the SBC Crown outright. At 8-4 the New Orleans Bowl elects to take the Red Wolves for the 2nd straight year believing the league title will bring back some fans who walked away after the UCA debacle.
2. ULL wins 6 games and gets selected for New Orleans on attendance purposes. Doing this could really cause major issues within the Sun Belt bowl picture, and likely sends a team into the At Large Bowl pool. (Likely USA or stAte)
3. NOLA gets pressured from CUSA offices to invite Southern Miss to fill the CUSA NOLA Slot. USM and Troy already played in September, looking to avoid a rematch that never plays out well, NOLA chooses between App and stAte and takes stAte.
4. App falls apart after the close Troy game and gets beat in Boone by ULM, dropping to an 8-4 finish and a clear 3rd place league standing.
The only scenario I could see as possible would be the first one, but I don't see us beating Troy. ULL could get to eligible, but with Georgia still to play, they'd have to not only beat stAte, but also go to Monroe and beat a Suddenly hot Warhawks team. The rest of the scenarios are possible, but likely improbable.

Problem with penciling us in for Mobile is that I suspect our advance ticket sales will be lower for that one than the others. No hard data here, but anecdotally it seems the date of the game is a deal breaker for a lot of our fans (myself included).
