Y'all should go up to Rupp Arena and see Kentucky play if you want iconic and a great atmosphere.

Kentucky has a fantastic program and legacy, but there's nothing that iconic about Rupp, really. It's not particularly historic (1976) and it's massive. Amazing basketball team, but the venue itself is about as iconic as the Greensboro Coliseum, a facility of similar size (and a longer history).

When I was looking at colleges (mid-70's), I originally had my heart set on either Duke or Harvard. Either was easily within academic reach for me at the time. One visit to Duke cured me of any Ivy League or UNJ-Durham aspirations. As I toured the Duke campus with the "ambassador", not a single person spoke to us on the whole tour. It was quite clear that this southern girl was not welcome and did not belong on the Duke campus.

My father suggested that we stop by Chapel Hill since it was on the way home. Our reception there was quite a different story.

I have never regretted for a single moment not going to either Duke or Harvard. I have never regretted for a single moment my decision to attend Chapel Hill. Nor have I regretted for a single moment sending our younger son to Appalachian and jumping right into the Appalachian Family.

Let's be honest - this game is very likely to get ugly regardless of whether any of the three freshmen play. Duke is on another level from even most power conference teams we play, and K doesn't mess around with a bunch of substitutions in these early season games.

I just find it ironic that anytime someone mentions UNC it's UNC-Cheat or something, but when someone spells Dook or the like, all of a sudden they're a cheat fan and we shouldn't poke fun at Dook, k, & his glass house. I never said fans of other teams couldn't poke fun at Duke, but how can anyone logically diminish Coach K's achievements? Over 1000 wins, 5 national championships, coaching the US Olympic team to multiple golds, etc.
although they are not a public institution, they are still governed by the NCAA, and if substantial claims or evidence presented itself, they would have to answer to any infractions. What has happened in K's glass house that he was protected by the lack of transparency?

I think anyone who brands a school by an incorrect and sophomoric nickname disrespects the school and the players.
I'm not a UNC fan, but I can give Roy williams his due. He is a good coach and a good man from everything I have seen. UNC consistently puts a great team on the court. Just because I do not personally like the school or team does not mean I will disrespect the entire organization by calling them immature names.

I root for all 4 NC big boys- after App. Grew up a Wake fan so I am Switzerland. Duke doesn't have to pay guys a dime to play there. We have a serious P5 football QB prospect where I live- is a junior. He is a beast and will get offers from everyone. I talked to him one day and asked him who he would pick right now if he had to choose. He said Duke. Can't blame him. Good kid, good student and incredible athlete.
