Can't rebound, can't hit a free throw, can't finish at the rim. Not sure I have seen so many one and dones in my entire life.

Re: MBB v. WCU
Painful to watch, I would say we are a bad team. However, horrible is more of an APPropriate adjective. Western (SoCon cellar dweller) did everything they could to give the game away, but, we still lose. Horrible! If you want to know where we stand as a team that question was pretty much answered today.

Was the game at App or at WCU?

At the game. We just lost at home to a bad 2-5 team. It was pretty brutal. For those of you who say you see improvement, we took a GIANT step backwards today. Saw nothing that looked good. Very frustrating. Just an honest objective opinion. The few fans that were here did make a lot of noise and supported the team well.

Re: MBB v. WCU
If our football team was 2-43 in Play off/bowl appearances we would consider dropping the program. WCU and App have exactly the same number of NCAA trips in the last 25 years. UNCA has gone more in the last 5 years than we ever have. And UNCA beat a good Sunbelt Coastal Carolina on the road today. And UNCA continues to recruit top notch freshmen (although they continue to transfer to P5 programs after a year). There is still talk about Fancher. Fincher coached App to NOT ONE SoCon final. Not one. Chapel was the pits but our program hasn't progressed under Fox on the court. Academic wise I'm impressed with Fox.
It can be done. We can climb out of this abyss. I just don't think I'll see it at Appin my lifetime as sad as that makes me.

There's lot of talk about "cleaning up a mess" and "taking time to build a program." I get all that but geez it's not like guys play 10 years. There are programs all over the country that turn it around in a year or two with a few stud recruits. Man look at what Western Michigan did. I think they were 1-11 three years ago. Boom!

Re: MBB v. WCU
This game was not at all indicative of the progress I had seen this year. I drove from Asheville fully expecting to beat this WCU team who is not very good this year. Basically, western knew they couldn't run with us so they turned the tempo WAY down. They controlled tempo and we missed layups and free throws..,,and got outrebounded for the first time other than duke. Hope this one was a wake up call.appfanjj wrote:At the game. Re: MBB v. WCU
Embarrassing. The only progress I saw was that we won't make Sportscenter this time for a free throw that fell ten feet short of the rim. Not exactly on the fast track, are we?
