Elliott to Ga State?
Shawn Elliott appears to be one of the leading candidates for the Georgia State job.

I hope he gets it. I'm sure Charlie knows what he is getting with Elliott and he would certainly bring some much needed energy to that program.

Re: Elliott to Ga State?
That would be a terrible job for SE and I would hope he is smart enough not to take it. I know they have the new stadium and all, but its a metro school with no fan base to speak of and they are way behind too many programs in the conference already. Just don't see that as an appealing job, SE deserves a better opportunity.

Can't imagine he would want to get whipped by his alma mater on an annual basis.

It's a bad job now but that new stadium could be a game changer. However, having lived in Atlanta, the biggest challenge will always be trying to get people in the metro area to care about anyone other than the 'dawgs.

He's an OL coach at a midtier program. HC offers are not going to be flying at him from every angle, so if he wants to be a HC, he likely needs to take any chance he can get through personal or alumni connections.

Atlanta is brutal to get a draw for a commuter school. Fan support is and always will be terrible. The city of Atlanta as a whole doesn't support teams well that aren't at the top.

Re: Elliott to Ga State?
Not sure I would agree that South Carolina is a midtier program. It is a midtier SEC program but that hardly equates to a nationally midtier program. I am sure he can land a better head coaching job if that is the direction he is looking to go. I recall before we hired SS that some were hoping for SE but it was noted that his salary at South Carolina was more than we would pay our own coach. He is a good coach, and deserves a chance, I just hope its at a school where he can win and I don't think Georgia State is that type of school.EastHallApp wrote:He's an OL coach at a midtier program. Midtier P5 program. Spurrier temporarily elevated their profile, but their all-time record was below .500 before he got there, and they've quickly "found their level" now that he's gone.t4pizza wrote:Not sure I would agree that South Carolina is a midtier program. And again - Elliott is an OL coach. That's not typically a precursor to HC jobs. If he can get a better one, good for him, but I just haven't heard his name linked with many (any?) jobs besides ours and Ga. State's.

He was OL and Co Offensive Coordinator from 2012-2015 under Spurrier. He was then named interim coach and went 1-5. He was retained by Golden as the OL only.

I do remember that. But I think everyone knows who the real OC on a Spurrier-led staff is.HighlandsApp wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Ell ... _football)

Re: Elliott to Ga State?
Congrats to Coach Elliott. I do think he will make GSU a very formidable opponent for the Mountaineers for the foreseeable future. Should be some intense recruiting battles between him and Satterfield!
