Bowls to watch according to Schlabach...still we are just "that team that beat Michigan"

Mark Schlabach has us at 27 out of 41 one behind A-State.

Still can't outgrow beating Michigan. We really need a big signature win in the next few years on the national level.

The only people who can't outgrow us beating Michigan are the people who have never payed us any attention. Ask any armchair quarterback about App and chances are the only thing they'll come up with is we beat Michigan...case in point, this "writer" has the NC State/Vanderbilt game at 23 (7 spots above us), so clearly this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Just an example of a writer who doesn't pay attention to G5 football having to say something about it for maybe the first time all year and spending a few seconds finding a nugget for each game. Look at the rankings - he's virtually saying the worst P5 bowl game is better than the best G5 one (besides Maryland-BC, which, let's be honest, you couldn't pay me to watch). Even goes for Western Michigan - he ranks the Cotton Bowl #8.

This will be Texas San Antonio's first-ever bowl game. The Roadrunners started their program in 2011 and are only in their fifth season of FBS play, matching the NCAA record for the fastest program to reach a bowl game, equaling South Alabama (2014) and Georgia State (2015).

matchup.

Most of the regular season rankings are just stupid. I have read some posted here that are so obscure most of us have no idea who the guy or rankings even are. The Joe Blow SI AP computer ranking has App at 33rd...blah blah. Now some ESPN dude actually has the bowls ranked? And if all the stuff he can say about either team is that we both beat Michigan in the last 9 years? Stupid

Appalachian's football program continues to get more press with each passing year.

It's been fun watching App get ranked vs. the other FBS programs in the state and nationally, the other G5 programs, players making all conference teams and even an All-American team.

Step back and look at all the positive press the university is receiving and don't let a blogger get you upset.

Yeah, that's not a ranking based on entertainment value alone, as the title suggests. And if you needed more evidence that Schablach doesn't know jack about G5 football, he ranks the Birmingham Bowl between USF and South Carolina at 24 based on the assumption that Quinton Flowers "might be the best player you haven't yet heard about."

I'm no college football journalist, but I sure as heck have heard about Quinton Flowers. 2551 yards of total offense this season alone. 4958 yards of total offense in his career, and that's basically in two seasons. He's a junior, but only played a little his freshman year. 473 total yards in a single game (against Memphis) this season (210 were rushing, and he was 24-29 passing in that same game). Got 3 rushing TDs in a single game twice this season. If nothing else, folks should remember his 84 yard TD pass against Florida State. Only Lamar Jackson rushed for more yards. He won about every offensive award in the AAC, and he's a dark horse candidate for next year's Heisman already (and there was chatter about his this year).

I'm just saying. If you haven't heard of Quinton Flowers (or think others haven't heard of Quinton Flowers) you probably don't care that much about G5 football.
