Who should we get for OC and DC?
I like Lonnie Galloway as OC. College QB at WCU and coached recievers here and at WVU. Coaching WR and passing game at Wake now. Again he still has a house here and half the school is named after his wifes family. He doesnt need the money either so it wouldn't be a lack of funds that would prevent the move.
Off the board for DC Paul Tortorella from D2 IUP(lost to Winston Salem St in the Quartes). 3 shutouts this year and 4 more games giving up 10 or less points and has had similar seasons in the past. Also coaches DB's which we could all agree need alot of help. If anyone has any connection to our staff make sure they give this guy a look. Coached at the D1 level in the past.

I dont know who will get the job, but, since SS has acted so quickly and aggressively, got to wonder if he doesnt already have a list of canidates in mind, and maybe he has already talked to a few of them, still really surprised he moved so quickly, he must have seen something this year that convinced him Jones wasnt the best man for the job.

Didn't we all see something this year that convinced us he wasn't the man for the job? Haven't we seen it the past several years?moehler wrote:I dont know who will get the job, but, since SS has acted so quickly and aggressively, got to wonder if he doesnt already have a list of canidates in mind, and maybe he has already talked to a few of them, still really surprised he moved so quickly, he must have seen something this year that convinced him Jones wasnt the best man for the job.

Unless SS took a nap in the booth while our D was on the field, I would say he saw enough to send Stale Dale packin. Plus I am sure going into his game plan each week SS knew his offense had to score at least 35 for us to have a chance. That puts a lot of extra pressure on the O that SS probably did not appreciate.
Plus SS knows what a good defense looks like, as an offensive coord. his mind breaks down a defense. I am sure he broke our scheme down and know a change is needed.

It's no surprise that DJ wasn't cutting it. We have been bitching on here for years about it.
The "surprise" is that SS had the cojones to drop the hammer within days of taking office. It is an incredibly good sign. The guy isn't pussy footing around. We all knew he was a chess master in the booth. Now we are quickly learning that he is a decisive and strong leader.
I get happier about the future every day. I'm one FBS announcement shy of throwing a party.

Couldn't agree any more. There were obvious problems in the coaching staff and to see him come in, take ownership and not accept the status "good ole' boy" quo, is EXTREMELY refreshing. I can't help but wonder if Satterfield had complete control of playcalling this year because it seemed too conservative for him, especially after seeing the guts he has to come in and clean up. Way to go Coach Satterfield. You've got my support already!Gonzo wrote:It's no surprise that DJ wasn't cutting it. We have been bitching on here for years about it.

Maybe he was conservative because he couldn't trust the defense to get him the ball back.StorminASU wrote:

Maybe he does not have AE anymore. Seems like that never comes up. I think Scott is very talented but when you look at the talent he had then in comparison to what he has now (still very good in places) there is a sizable difference.AppRy wrote:Maybe he was conservative because he couldn't trust the defense to get him the ball back.StorminASU wrote:

Re: Who should we get for OC and DC?
The options available with a mobile QB like AE or Pressley are limited when your QB can only run out of necessity. I would bet aside from the plays for AE, the play calling was very similar this year to those years. The results might have been different but I don't think the play calling was significantly different. Again, the talent available hamstrings what you can do out of those similar play calls.bcoach wrote:Maybe he does not have AE anymore. Seems like that never comes up. Re: Who should we get for OC and DC?
I think you are correct. I think it was more results than intent. We just didn't have the talent we had then and not just AE. Yes part of it was injury also. I think we will see much better results next year with a healed QB and a more mature O line. WR looks pretty good not sure abour RB.hapapp wrote:The options available with a mobile QB like AE or Pressley are limited when your QB can only run out of necessity.
