Holes hit again ---
This one looks much more serious than the previous ones ---

A new list of NCAA allegations against UNC-Chapel Hill brings men's basketball and football back into the picture, expands the time frame of violations and deepens the potential penalties for a scheme of bogus classes that benefited athletes.
The third version of the NCAA's charges were released Thursday by UNC. This set of allegations is tougher than the first two, adding a violation of unethical conduct and providing extra benefits against the two architects of the bogus class scheme, Deborah Crowder and Julius Nyang’oro. It says UNC and its athletics department “leveraged the relationship with Crowder and Nyang’oro to obtain special arrangements for student-athletes in violation of extra-benefit legislation.”
“Many at-risk student-athletes, particularly in the sports of football and men’s basketball, used these courses for purposes of ensuring their continuing NCAA academic eligibility,” the notice said.
The notice said the improper conduct occurred from the fall of 2002 to the end of summer 2011, a time frame that includes two UNC men’s basketball championships. The 2005 championship involved athletes who had taken many of the fake classes.
The new notice replaces any previous notice of violations, but it is unchanged with regard to four charges that include lack of institutional control; most of the NCAA’s exhibits are the same. The allegation of unethical conduct and extra benefits replaces a more lenient failure-to-monitor violation from the second set of allegations.
The second set of allegations was more favorable to UNC, and it did not mention football and men’s basketball. UNC, however, fought those allegations by directly challenging the NCAA’s jurisdiction. After a rare procedural hearing in October with the Committee on Infractions, the new tougher set of allegations was sent to UNC on Dec. 13.

Re: Holes hit again ---
Maybe, just maybe the NCAA is going to do something to UNC-CH. I still think they get a slap on the wrist and allow UNC-CH to throw anything except MBB and FB under the bus first, but maybe, just maybe, the NCAA is not going to back down.
It almost reads like the NCAA is a litle pissed that UNC-CH did not take the easy way out they were given with round 2 and now they are ramping it back up. Or am I being a bit to naive is how the NCAA handles a P5 school?

I'm thinking the NCAA is getting a lot of heat from other schools and or political pressure after the 2nd NOA came out.

May we get back to the topic at hand? The CHeatin' CHeats from UNC-CHeat?

The NCAA is such a massive joke. How much longer are they going to drag this on for? This should have been resolved 4 years ago. They don't even follow any of their own rules anymore.

Chapel Hill School of Denial has stated that this is an academic issue, not an athletic issue. The NCAA is only athletic...........at least that's what my friends that enjoy that school keep telling me.

Re: Holes hit again ---
I personally find this new notice hilariously funny. Add in their AD's quote to the N&O that this "investigation is "unfair", upon receipt of the new notice of allegations.
The Cheats were handed a golden ticket to get off essentially scot-free with just a slap on the wrist last April. Their own hubris and elitist attitude prevented them from seeing past their own nose and accepting those allegations... rather claiming the NCAA has "no jurisdiction." Stupid.... but alas "the Carolina Way."
They just keep digging their hole deeper and deeper. The Cheats deserve everything that is coming their way and then some.

Re: Holes hit again ---
At this point if UNC athletics doesn't get the death penalty and they don't lose academic accreditation they are getting off easy. This is ridiculous.

How so? Fake classes for their athletes as well as grade manipulation but there excuse was that it was available to all students not just athletes (even though athletes were guided towards these classes by coaches and advisors). Would you prefer just a slap on the wrist?Appdoggy wrote:This post is pretty comical.CheckYosef94 wrote:At this point if UNC athletics don't get the death penalty and they don't lose academic accreditation they are getting off easy. Re: Holes hit again ---
The ncaa should have had a decisive punishment 4 years ago. Instead they have dragged this crap on forever. Loss of accreditation for the flagship of North Carolina? Hell no. This is not an offense that warrants that level of punishment. It's as if you think 90% of UNC are Af Am studies majors..CheckYosef94 wrote:How so? Re: Holes hit again ---
I agree that there should have been a punishment years ago but there wasn't. As they drag it on and more evidence of fraud is uncovered the punishment (or punishment to be) should get more severe. I don't think I ever said 90% UNC are Af Am studies majors, but the university did offer these classes to any student (mostly athletes). Last time I checked in order to receive a degree from a liberal arts university you need a certain minimum of hours of gen ed classes. Fake classes= 0 hours. That means that anyone who took this course did not meet the requirement for a degree but was still awarded one. I know they aren't going to lose accreditation, but I also know they are most likely going to get off easy after committing possibly the largest fraud case in NCAA history.Appdoggy wrote:The ncaa should have had a decisive punishment 4 years ago. My take on the NCAA is a) useless as a hog in Sunday School; b) the most blatant group of hypocrites whose decisions are driven by the almighty dollar; c) if it is only athletic then this entire issue from start to finish is irrelevant because there is no academic eligibility.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Holes hit again ---
There is ZERO chance of the Death Penalty - that constitutes not even having a football or basketball team for a certain period of time - even if you despise the holes more than I, you must give up this thought process ---
And to you unc fans on here, all this dragging out of time must be put on the shoulders of unc as well as the ncaa - unc has taken its sweet ol time in responding on several earlier occasions - one reason I believe is that they didn't want to take a chance of not winning the 2016 national basketball championship - Which, thanks to Villanova (sorry Black Saturday) they DID NOT.
As someone mentioned earlier, if the holes had just admitted to wrong doing and took the initial punishment this would have been over long ago - But, THE CAROLINA WAY, and their egotistical attitude prevented that - AND, look where they are now !!! - Roy will be crying again, recruits will decide to go elsewhere (he has been telling them unc bb is clear of penalty) and Fedora will take the next decent job he is offered ---

You're right that the NCAA is a massive joke but UNC is a massive fraud. Should have the book thrown at them.Appdoggy wrote:The NCAA is such a massive joke. So do you believe there should not be any nCAA eligibility requirements involving academics? No minimum requirements for incoming players, no minimum GPA for current players, and no rules against giving academic help to athletes?bcoach wrote:Someone has finally told the truth. Re: Holes hit again ---
My clueless brother-in-law took one of the classes in question while at UNC-CH and swears he never heard it was a fake class and worked his tail off for the A he received. That tells me, while it was open to any student, the ease of the courses is definitely an athletic dept issue.Yosef10 wrote:You didn't have to be an Af Am major to take the fraudulent Af Am classes...Appdoggy wrote:The ncaa should have had a decisive punishment 4 years ago. My brother-in-law's baby blue blinders gives him the nerve to joke about wishing he knew he could have slacked off.
