I'm no coach and as much as I like to armchair QB.....It's a tough world. If we could start a new era in respect to SHOCK the WORLD again and beat some P5 teams on the field now that we are FBS.....I want to think recruiting would get easier.....Hence making it easier to keep our traditional values in recruiting. It's a double edged sword for coaches for one it puts a target on your back with that kind of victory and success but it can make the recruiting better.
KICK ASS!!!

A big checkmark in many ADs’ books: Satterfield has maintained steady program growth during the transition from FCS to FBS — and he’s done it on the heels of Hall of Famer Jerry Moore’s success at the school. Not everyone pulls off those feats.

The Mountaineers are 21-5 in the past two seasons, and two of the three losses in 2016 were to Tennessee (in overtime) and Miami.

Satterfield has almost a Stanford-like model of physicality, something that would seemingly play well in the Big Ten. But industry sources say to keep an eye on the jobs in the North Carolina Triangle (N.C. State, UNC and Duke) for Satterfield’s likeliest next step."

I still think it will hard to pry Satt off the mountain as long as the program progresses. He is not about money, having said that himself after the Cincinnati thing. He is an App grad and former App all SoCon QB. He is married to a former App athlete. His black and gold blood will influence any choice he makes. The man has principles that will make it hard for him to leave unless he finds he can take the program and school he loves no further.

*After* the Cincinnati thing being the key phrase. Note he didn't say that publicly while the Cincy job was still on the table.

The way I take it is that he was a candidate for the job but they ultimately hired someone else. Have never heard any indication that he told them no.

Classic coachspeak sentence. If he entertained Cinci it's just a matter of time. We're privileged to have him this season.

Eh, IMO I don't think it's going to happen until he accomplishes a few things:
  1. We go undefeated in SunBelt conf games
  • We beat a P5 school
  • We're officially ranked in the top 25
So I'll give him at least two more seasons before i'm worried

A lot of us have had opportunities to move in our careers. In my case, I've moved 5 times for work, finally getting to come back to NC 9 years ago. At this point, I've turned down more money to stay put, because my wife and kids love it here. I may not be the majority, but I'm definitely not unique. Here's to hoping our coaches (&a AD) feel similar; because I think we've got some great ones in Boone right now.

...now if we could find somewhere to send our Chancellor, I'd help her pack!

I hope I have the opportunity to turn down a 400-500% pay raise one day.

I sincerely hope that Satterfield stays at App for a nice long time, but I certainly couldn't blame him if a good offer came along. He is on the front end of his coaching career. I think he is smart enough not to jump into a terrible situation (some programs are career killers) for a raise....even a big raise. Other than that, he has to do what it best for him and his family. I love the Carolinas but I'll be totally honest here. If I were offered a 200% raise...even a 100% raise for a legit opportunity, I'd leave a vapor trail getting to it.
