Upshaw

Unread post by AppAlum1 » Mon Dec 26, 2016 11:39 am

Can anyone share Upshaw's status for next year? I understood he was academically ineligible this year.

name: Upshaw, Terrence B
address: Appalachian State University
addr1: ASUBOX
addr2: Boone N.C. 28608
depart/major: Building Sciences
title: Senior
type: STUDENT

Here's an indication that the university expects him to be enrolled in classes for the spring semester and that he has the semester hours and GPA to be classified as a senior. It's a good sign but, unfortunately, doesn't necessarily mean that he's satisfied all athletic eligibility requirements.

In Brett Strelow's recent article about next year, it sounded like Gibbs & Upshaw would be back. He didn't say it was a definite, but it sounded pretty encouraging to me.

Really liked Satts quote at the end of that article. "We can't wait for Georgia".

How many tickets will App State be allocated? I wonder if it is 2,000 +? If so the big Yosef doaners will have access to them first.

As it should be. They pay the bills for the program that we want.

I apologize for asking if there's a newer thread on this. At least I didn't start a new thread. Will Upshaw be back?

He played in Spring ball, has been in the offseason program, is in a couple of videos I posted in the S&C Part II thread, and from all reports is a man on a mission. He's back for his last year.

He is our senior secret weapon for the opener in Athens.

You beat me to it. This was precisely my thought. In listening to the Georgia analysts on the podcast, they didn't even mention Upshaw. He's flying under the radar (at least for analysts....don't know about coaches). The only info they have on Upshaw is from two seasons ago. Prior to losing his eligibility last year, the news was that Upshaw as working out like a mad man in the weight room and was incredibly strong. I am hoping that has continued and he has become a true weapon for those tough first downs. If so, the Moore / Upshaw combo could be as good, or potentially even BETTER than the Cox / Moore combo. That is amazing to even think about!

Welcome back Upshaw!

Upshaw is my favorite player to watch on the team. Guy just runs hard into contact. Can't wait to see him play this year.

Excited to hear the spring reports on Upshaw. I have a feeling at least one more RB will get a few touches too - maybe Williams?
