Re: Lines for App v Toledo
I kind of like playing the underdog in this one. It kind of suits this year's team and could help motivate them. I'm not a betting man, so the Vegas lines don't mean much to me otherwise.

Re: Lines for App v Toledo
I think the last two games may have been the closest we have come this season to seeing the team we thought we would be. With almost three more weeks to heal and to prepare for Toledo, I like our chances as the dog in this one.

We were a 4 pt. dog last year against them last year and we saw how that worked out. It will be close but if we play as we have the last three weeks.....no worries.

I guessed elsewhere 4.5. I'm not a bettor either, but I'd take us plus 7.5.

I think it is hard to beat the same team twice in one year, not impossible, but hard. This is a little different, but in a way a lot of the same players and coaches involved. With that said I like our chances. We have time to heal, and looked good the last few weeks. I think the way the D goes the game will go.

I am not a betting man either. I just thought that it was interesting that we are a touchdown plus underdog in this matchup. I , like most on here, think that the role of underdog fits this team perfectly. Our oline is gelling at the right time and I think that Coach Woody will dial up some pressure in the right situation so that we keep their qb off kilter just enough to win this one.

Good to be the dog. Course, I can pretty much guarantee you, given last year, Toledo won't be so easily boastful. They have a chip on their shoulder about us! Let's go give them 2.

Re: Lines for App v Toledo
That's about the line I expected as Toledo has been more consistent and has a better record this year. I like the fact that their QB isn't very mobile as mobile QB's appear to give App fits quiet often. App will miss Sims but I like App's chances and being the underdog actually puts more pressure on Toledo, especially after last years game. App has looked like a team that had finally come together the last three weeks so here's hoping they bring it in Mobile.

I have been know to place a wager or two in the day but I don’t make bets involving Appalachian. But if I did I would take the 7.5 in a heart beat.

The only reason they are a fav now is becaus of the U game where Miami fell asleep at the wheel, blew Toledo out in the 3rd and Toledo scored 2 late in garbage time for the U. Ohio took them to the woodshed. That is our game plan.

Re: Lines for App v Toledo
This could be very interesting. Looking at some preliminary info, they should be favored. They have a better record, beat more teams with winning records, and only had one wtf moment with Ohio. However, the way we have played in the last three games shows that we are becoming the team we all thought we would be this year. Statistically they score more points per game than we do, but we give up less than they do. We both played top P5 opponents, we played more than them. They are currently ranked about the same as Wake Forest, so we should be able to give them all they want. Gonna have to be prepared for Mr. Woodside as he is having a great year and can sling it all over the field. I am encouraged that he is not as much a mobile threat. Should be a great game. We should be hungry to finish strong and being the underdog, and they will want revenge.

Pressure on Woodside and we pull out a very close one. No pressure will not be a happy ending. Rise up D

We have not upset a single opponent this year nor for some time. Time to step up our game and play like we are capable of playing.

Betting lines are only designed to get money moving. They are not an indication of what they think will actually happen.

Betting lines are also pretty dang close to the final outcome in a lot of situations too. If they weren't, those people in Vegas wouldn't have a job.

Re: Lines for App v Toledo
This year has been frustrating but if not for special teams issues (penalty and block) we would have upset Wake, although it wouldn't have been a big upset. Same for Tennessee last year. It's hard to pull an upset when we are favored in >90% of our games. The population of available upsets consists mostly of elite P5 programs. I think that Toledo was technically favored last year also though, weren't they? I'm sure someone will recall.

Re: Lines for App v Toledo
I believe they were a 4 point favorite at game time. Currently they are an 8 point favorite. I say bet the over! This might become a track meet.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:47 amThis year has been frustrating but if not for special teams issues (penalty and block) we would have upset Wake, although it wouldn't have been a big upset.
