6 of one half a dozen of the other. Many of us will still be a lower tier and I can't see a reason to not have a playoff for us. I would just like to have something to play for past a conference title. To be realistic noone on the 5 will have much of a shot at the big boys title. Just would be nice. In most every other sport most any school has a shot. Look at VCU in basketball. Look at us in baseball. In all divisions of football most everybody has a shot except FBS football. It just would be great to be able to be the best of our level which will be above FCS but below what is now BCS. Maybe it would be a champion of the five. Just a thought.

Some people think that FCS is a good spot for us. Financially we can fit and maintain a level of competence and feel that FBS may be too expensive for us to survive any higher than midle of the pack. The most we can hope for in FBS is to win a conference title every now and then and every so often get to compete in a no name bowl along with 50% of the rest of FBS. Oe doesn't have to choose between FCS and D II. It's absurd to suggest that we move down when we are at a level that many consider a good fit.

The most we can hope for is a home schedule that includes one or two of the following each year: ECU, Wake, Marshall, S. Miss, ODU, and GSU. Yes I said GSU, they will be FBS.

I can't imagine replacing GSU with Mercer, we need to add a puke smiley.

Back when we played on a more even level we had some good teams that would have had a shot at anyone. Not outside the possibility that we may have some of those in the future. The playoffs will grow, they have to for financial reasons, so they will get larger. If not, or until, there are always bowl games to go to also. Sounds like win/win in a lot of ways. Make the playoffs, or go to a bowl game.
