Appalachian State Football Schedule 2013 (so far)

Unread post by Goapps15 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 12:01 pm

Here is what I have compiled so far. This is from other schools releasing their schedules. I have 8 games accounted for already. Hope this helps all and enjoy!

August 31 @ Montana

October 5 @ the Citadel
October 12: vs. Samford
October 19: @ Furman
October 26: vs. Georgia Southern
November 2: vs. Chattanooga
November 9: @ Georgia
November 16: @ Wofford (per T-Dog)
November 23: vs. Western Carolina

Elon will likely be 9/14 or 9/21. They are busy 9/28 and 11/16.

SOCON play will start with 2 consecutive road games.

This could be an indication there will be 12 games, unless there is a bye 11/16 and one week in September as well. Playing 12 games would allow for us to have 6 home games. :D

I'd be disappointed if we did not take advantage of the opportunity to play a 12-game schedule. Being able to have a trip to Montana, play UGA and still get 6 home games would be excellent. I'd love to get 2 good OOC opponents at KBS put even if we have to fill the open dates with patsies, it beats no game day!

With two tough OOC games already, I'd be surprised to see much in the way of tough home OOC games. Could be a rather blah home schedule for 2013 even if we do have 6 home games. Though, I like to have 6 excuses to come to Boone each Fall.

It would be nice to have a 12 game schedule. I hope we take advantage, even if we have to play a D2 school. I would jump at that oppurtunity to get 6 at home. Why not schedule like Lenoir-Rhyne or someone on the D2 level? Not much of a challenge but they do run the triple option like Wofford, The Citadel, and Georgia Southern. Who knows how much it would help but maybe it could help for later, especially if we're playing the Citadel and Wofford early. Surely there would be another FCS team looking for a game, and who wouldn't be up for a fall trip to Boone?

Playing someone else sure beats playing ourselves.

Playing a D2 team accomplishes nothing for us. It does not count for the playoffs and hurt our SOS. I would much rather play a D1 FCS non-scholarship program.

I would like to see 12 games but I can understand 11 as well. I would look at seeing a Big South or MEAC opponent in Boone. I would not expect either of the other two games at home in non-conference to be very appealing. That is just my .02.

Those are my sentiments as well. I would rather just play 11 than play a D2 opponent.

Also remember that only the top 8 teams get a first round bye this year in the playoffs. Playoffs expand to 24 teams this year.

11 games may not be a bad idea but I would still like to see 12 with a bye week late in September.

I'd rather us play a non-schollie D-I. We make too much money off of home games to not have at least six every year. Float them a check for $150,000 and make $450,000 profit.

I want UNC- Community College to come up and play us late in the year. We embarrass them, rest our players in 2ed half, and get another home game in God's country. What more do you want?

Satt's first season is certainly going to be baptism by fire. That's going to be one tough schedule. Could have the makings of the best team in the land, or end up going .500 or worse. I wouldn't have it any other way though. 8-)

A D-II game would be more competitive.

Same here. I would love 6 at home but not a D2. This is probably our last run at a NC and a D2 will not help. A better way to have more games is to go into the playoffs ranked NUMBER 1

If we announce the move before June play-off considerations won't matter, but I still hope we don't schedule a D-II.

Just my opinion but I'd prefer DII to nothing. It should be an absolute last resort and we should never play a DII during a regular 11-game year but if we exhaust all other options, I'd love an excuse to make it up to Boone for a sixth home game.

With a road trip to Montana along with a SoCon slate, SOS should not work against us when it comes to playoff selection even if we do play a DII. I always remember 2009 when we were seeded below #1 Montana because they played a cream puff OOC including a DII and ran the table while we played McNeese.

Take care of business against the opponents we've already got on the schedule and we'll be fine. I don't want a DII but if it is that or five home games, I'll take the DII. We have one high quality FCS game out of conference, which is one more than most every other top program will have.

Speaking of UNCC football:
The head coach said he was only going to dress half his players for their first game.
The other half would have to dress themselves.

Why not play Davidson. They are pathetic, local, a league opponent in every other sport. Would give us an easy win and another home game. Sees win win.

As much as I would like to attend a sixth home game, I think the players need a bye week to rest up in the midst of a tough schedule, recuperate from injuries, visit their families, and maybe just a rare few days of normal college life during the season, not to mention allowing the staff to have a couple days to work on recruiting.

I believe they get an off week if we play 12 games.

Yes, there still is a bye week if we play 12 games. If we play only 11 games there will be 2 byes.

I'd guess App will play UGA on 11/16 since the SEC teams like playing their FCS game towards the end of the season.
