Re: 2018 Baseball
Ahhhh. The smell of the grass, crack of the bat, warmth of the sun....wait a minute. Have to go open up the cabinets and drip the faucets so the pipes don't freeze.
Keep those bats warm, Apps. Looking forward to the new season!

From appstatesports.com
BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State's baseball series against Marshall scheduled for March 2-4 has been moved from Huntington, W.Va., to Boone.
With a Friday afternoon first pitch of 3 p.m., the March 2 game at Smith Stadium will now be the Mountaineers' home opener. The Saturday and Sunday games against the Thundering Herd will have 1 p.m. start times.
After opening the season with February road series against UNCG and UNCW, as well as a Feb. 28 road game against Western Carolina, the home series against Marshall will conclude two days before the March 6 game against South Carolina at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. App State will play again in Boone on March 7 against UNC Asheville in what was originally scheduled to be the home opener.
With the schedule change, the Mountaineers will have a 25-game home schedule and play 40 of their 56 regular season games in the state of North Carolina.

Re: 2018 Baseball
Kermit & Co are doing everything humanly possible to make attending App baseball games a great experience. Take a look at how many games are being played near our largest alumni bases. This is all very intentional and a key part of building a solid program. I'm looking forward to seeing more baseball this year.

Re: 2018 Baseball
I honestly disliked watching baseball until I started going to games and standing (often freezing) out in Kassouf's Korner. I've become pretty big fan of watching our team since then.DaphneUrquhart wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 7:46 amKermit & Co are doing everything humanly possible to make attending App baseball games a great experience. Anyone who hasn't been needs to check it out.

That's a tough division. Playing tough competition makes you better. Give 'em hell!

Only ULM received fewer votes overall. Hopefully, we are being underestimated.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 12:25 pmThat's a tough division. Playing tough competition makes you better. Give 'em hell!

Re: 2018 Baseball
I believe that Kermit is one heck of a hire. I know that time will tell but our team had a totally different feel to it last year compared to the last few years. Would love to see us rise to 3rd or 4th in the East this year.

Re: 2018 Baseball
Yea, I was somewhat excited about a 6th place finish, until I realized we were talking divisions.

Re: 2018 Baseball
Not surprising given we're dealing with a second year coach and his BARELY first full recruiting class (baseball and other Olympic sports mostly recruit 2+ years out so this 2019 class will really be the first true cycle class) I didn't expect much more respect from the Belt. But I think the end results will be better than what is expected. And hopefully that's just the beginning.

Re: 2018 Baseball
Yes , sixth means last. I believe we will do better and I also think that baseball is the Sunbelts strongest sport. If we can finish in the top half of the league consistently , we will have a good program.

Re: 2018 Baseball
We're been estimated exactly where we should be. We've done nothing but finish last since joining the Sun Belt. Up to this team to show otherwise.
