stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
In 2017 Miami was scheduled to play a game at Arkansas State that had to be cancelled due to the threat of Hurricane Irma. Basically...Miami asserts they can't reschedule until 2024/25. Arkansas State asserts they can and that Miami is intentionally delaying rescheduling and is therefore threatening suit for $650,000 in damages (per the contract).

Re: stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
We posted this on 247 yesterday but I forgot to post it here. The best thing is to see their fan bases going at each other on social media. It's been fun to watch. State's fan are ALMOST as bad as Southern's. Not quite there yet but real close.
A St taking a chance with this. No one knows what would be decided if it goes to court but small return even if they win compared to the damage they could do to their chances of future games with P5's, especially ACC teams. Those could dry up quick if the big boys decide to punish them for daring to challenge one of their own. Going to be interesting to see this play out.

Re: stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
This is a "could they/should they" scenario. Could they sue and win? Possibly, but they'd need a smoking gun...an email from a high up saying "we really don't want to go play in that rat hole, so let's delay". Should they though? You're right it would handcuff them bigtime going forward.

This will do wonders for Arky’s future out of conference scheduling.

Re: stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
Based on posts at CSNbbs it seems ArkSt has tried to be accommodating. That is only one side I realize but it seems they have a case. I say go for all of it plus court cost. Sue all the Prig5 if they collude to protect one of their own in not scheduling ArkSt.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I agree with their position, but I’m glad it’s not us having to make that decisions, hard to see a result in which they “win”.

Re: stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
I would suggest Miami just pay up and skip the trip, they don't want to go. The U, at least in their eyes, are on the rise and potentially in the playoff discussion in future years and an AState game in Ark does not move the needle in their favor. AState has more to loose by not hosting an agreeable P5 eventually rather than never. They should just be patient for a few years.

I don't see any reason for them not to schedule the 2024 game and move on. It's a really bad look.Appalachman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 9:10 amI would suggest Miami just pay up and skip the trip, they don't want to go. Re: stAte Threatens to Sue Miami
AState seems to be unreasonable to not accept the future dates offered and possibly could have arranged an extra payday game to boot. And damage to their reputation seems inevitable.
