AppFan11 wrote:Looks like only two we're still waiting on are : Pickney and Norwood. Man this is nice and neat. It was good to get the big surprise last night. T. Upshaw looks very good on tape. Lots of long runs, stops and goes in traffic and then runs away from everybody. Physical too. Again have to give Very Big Props to Mr. firemoose and AppGrad78 gentlemen please take a well deserved bow! For taking us through the most informed recruiting season EVER You two were AWESOME!!!!!!
Thanks AppFan11. I know 78' would say the same thing. I will keep working throughout the days and weeks ahead as there are still walk-ons wanting to come and we will keep everyone updated as soon as we get word.

I also want to say GREAT JOB by the coaching staff. We could have easily lost 3 or 4 in the last two weeks with all that were coming at them but they kept in contact and extra personal visits and showed them how much we wanted them. Congrats to everybody involved for a great job.

Of course we still have to see how these kids adjust on the field to the college game but overall, this seems like a very strong class.

Excellent work by the entire staff to not only keep all of our verbal commits despite interest from some FBS programs but also tack on the late addition of Terrence Upshaw. I think most of our fans will be satisfied with what we've now got at RB. Cox and Upshaw both look like great players and will give us some quality depth behind Tysean Holloway.

Along with strengthening our depth at RB in this class, I think that the future of our defensive secondary and offensive line is very bright.

78 and firemoose: you guys rock! I can't imagine how much time you both have dedicated to keeping us up to date on all the recruits through social media and other contacts. It is great to see how the decision-making process is going for all of our targets. Thank you for all your hard work!

Believe it or not I've already got 5 guys marked who are saying they want to come in 14', 3 of which are teammates of guys we just signed. I'm building a folder of them all as I come across them. :D

Just for fun, I put together a list of the players I consider our six top signees. I base it on what I see in video, not what some recruiting service says. Bear in mind, I'm NEVER right about these things, and, given the overall strength of this class, picking a top six is darn-near impossible. But it's fun, nonetheless.

My list:

RB Terrence Upshaw
OL Colby Gossett
LB/DE Nathaniel Norwood
QB Taylor Lamb
LB George Vinson
DB Tyrell Brown

What's your top six?

My top 6

DB Anthony Covington - could be a starter right away and replace a certain "burnt toast" safety.

LB George Vinson - possible starter and DJ Smith like Fresh impact player

RB - Terrance Upshaw - Guy runs big for his size and has serious speed.

LB/DE - Nathaniel Norwood - knows how to get in the backfield and would make a very fast pass rushing DE

QB - Taylor Lamb - looks like the real deal and depth is an issue at QB. Will only get better and played in a complex offense in HS

Tie for 6th with the York Boys - Beau Nunn will be a beast and Lee Wright has too much speed and aggressiveness not to be an impact player right away.

Overall the best class I have seen on paper. Very special group of players. Hard to even name a top 6 because every kid brings something special to the table.

29 new players, wow that is great. All but two of the 15 scholarship 2013 freshman had a minmum of one FBS offer, that is more impressive to me than stars.

My top 6:

QB Lamb
RB Upshaw
OL Collins
LB Vinson
LB Wright (listed at ATH)
ATH Cox

Excited about Townes and Gilchrist as well. (really excited about all the guys)

Impact on 2013 players would be Townes at Safety, Vinson and Wright at LB/special teams, and Upshaw at RB.

I like your list 78 and I also like what I have seen of Lee Wright.

Covington would have to be on any top 6 list. He has offers from SEC BIG10 and ACC schools. Should help lessen the pain of losing McCray.

Lamb I thought initially was just a cool pickup due to his dad but after watching some film he appears to be a shiftier version of Trey Elder.

Vinson is a quick run to the ball ILB and I am glad we were able to hang on to him. Think quicker DJ Smith.

Colby Gossett size alone has me very intrigued. If he can be coached up we might have a 3 year starter at tackle.

Dante Jones may not run a 4.2 40 but on tape he is football fast. Pulls away from guys and always seems to be open.

Rashaad Townes has great size and range for a safety. It was a huge position of need and I wouldn't be suprised if he is starting at some point during his freshmen year.

Covington is a college CB if im not mistaken.

OK...I see there are plenty of posts up and 78's has an updated list. The players listed below are already on that list but these are the high school players I believe, based on their twitter posts and other sites, are committed to App as walk-ons right now, some preferred and some not. There are about 8 to 10 others (some on the list, some not) that are leaning this way but haven't said for sure they are going to walk-on. I'll keep digging and will update 78' and the board as we know.

TE Hunter Nunn (6-4, 260) York Comprehensive High School, McConnells, S.C.
RB Chris Simpson (6-1, 200) of Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Va
LB Bill Cecil (6-0, 210) of T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville
OL Parker McKeithan (6-4, 295) of Salisbury High School in Salisbury
ATH TJ Watkins (6-0, 170) of East Rutherford High School in Forest City
OL/DL Jarrett Jacumin (6-2, 265) of North Raleigh Christian Academy in Raleigh
QB/WR Kevin Saxton (6-3, 175) of Sun Valley High School in Monroe
OL Will Robertson (6-4, 270) of North Rowan High School in Spencer
LB Caleb Fuller (5-11, 220) of New Hanover High School in Wilmington
ATH Vallejo Tillman (5’8”, 170) of Calhoun Falls High School in Calhoun Falls, SC.

I was up past three this morning and up at five plus I'm sick so I'm going to take a little break for a bit. I'll be back at it soon.

What's the difference between preferred walk-on and plain walk-on? Potential scholarship? Guarantee of making team if you come to school?
