Western
Although our team has regressed to the point of losing to teams like NC A&T and NC Central, I do believe we have a shot against west carolina today, game starts at 5.

Re: Western
I plan to be there. This is a terrible Cantamounts team- 3-31, 1-15 on the road, and we beat them by 10 earlier this year. No excuses game. Go App!

Re: Western
Yesterday was a no excuse game, hopefully there's something we can hang our hats on this time.

Re: Western
I admittedly haven't watched any App baseball this year..but are there still people on here saying Kermit is going to turn it around? Legitimate question, and if so, what's the rationale?

Re: Western
I think a lot of people still have faith in him to turn it around. It may not happen this year, and I think we expected to be a little more competitive this year, but he took over a dumpster fire. The rationale for believing in him is his record of past success. He took two different schools, neither with any baseball history, to the DII CWS. He has built programs from nothing, and that is essentially what he is being asked to do here.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:23 amI admittedly haven't watched any App baseball this year..but are there still people on here saying Kermit is going to turn it around? Re: Western
According to someone on here this guy is going to be the best coach in the history of the school in any sport.
With the regression of this team over the past 15 months, I don’t even see him getting back to a winning record in the next three years

I know it doesn't matter on here and the tar and feathers have already been purchased but I thought I would bring to light something that hasn't been mentioned once in any of the baseball threads I've seen. The following is a quote from David on 247, where we've actually been keeping up with this issue that's been ongoing since week two/three when Leshock was the first injury:
In follow-up to last night, after doing some more investigating it really has gotten to the point where Kermit is dealing with an Angel Elderkin-ish run of injuries. We had a couple of guys go out during the game last night that left us with pitchers playing in field positions. As was shared with me, only three of our nine starters in the field finished in the positions where they began. So we're scrambling to put a patchwork lineup out there to begin with, and we're extremely young on top of that.
Just some info for those with open eyes.

My post was more of a dig at the guy that said he was going to be the best ever. He’s only A year and a half in, he still deserves time to get his guys in.

Re: Western
Kermit is a winner. Period. App State will be competitive in the Sun Belt with him as manager. No fan is more disappointed in this season than me but I have zero doubt our winning days are closer than they have been since 2012.
Also, just a reminder that if you could combine all of the frustration of this season among MMB posters it still wouldn't amount to how frustrated Kermit and his staff are right now. Brighter days are ahead.

Re: Western
Jim Fox has now had four years to rebuild a basketball program that was in similar shambles to the baseball program. There's absolutely no reason to not give Coach Smith similar reign to try and build his program. Unlike Fox, Smith has a documented history of building programs from the ground up. It would be beyond foolish to not let this guy give it his best shot without being questioned and ran out of town by folks who know very little about the daily goings on inside the program.

Re: Western
We had our shortstop playing in right field. Bobby Hampton, a former pitcher was in left field. Beau Myers is more comfortable in left, and he was playing center. Backup catchers are catching. Will Herman was playing second base, and he is also a pitcher. CJ Brown hit a grand slam last night, and then proceeded to get hit by a pitch, which eventually took him out of the game. On top of all that, we still are only giving up 5.75 runs a game. We just can't drive anyone in to score.firemoose wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:32 pmI know it doesn't matter on here and the tar and feathers have already been purchased but I thought I would bring to light something that hasn't been mentioned once in any of the baseball threads I've seen. I’m standing right here. I said it. I stand by it and I will answer any question anyone has as to why I still believe it. Kermit is a fantastic person and coach and we’re damn lucky to have him and his family in Boone.

Well, we did enough to pick up the win 4-2. Great student turnout on a beautiful Boone day

Re: Western
Apparently, another "unlike Fox" characteristic he possess is, he doesn't lose to Western.

Re: Western
Come on man, it’s still an absolute ridiculous statement to say is going to be one of the best coaches in the history of the school after a season. You obviously have a personal relationship with him and his family, and that’s great. I I never said we weren’t lucky to have him, I said your statement that he will be the best ever is exaggerated and ridiculous. He’ll be lucky to have a winning Record before the end of the 2021 season
