according to the article, CCU expanded to 15K for 2017 season and is expected to expand to 20K for 2018 season, so I assume construction is in progress.

To be fair, more bowl games = more money.
More money for the schools, the host, broadcasters, coaches etc.

Do I personally think we need more bowl games? No.
But it's all about more money.

While I think a bowl located in Greenville and/or Myrtle Beach is a good thing for App, more bowls only equal more money for ESPN. Almost all lower-tier bowls are losing propositions for the participating schools.

I used to feel this way, then I realized two things. First, a 6-6 Big Ten team would get invited to a bowl game before a 10 win Sun Belt team. More bowl games are better for us. Second, I read an article about the 2007 Indiana football team which made what is now the Cactus Bowl and what that meant for the players. Indiana has been a bad program historically and Terry Hoeppner, their head coach, died right before the season started. It was a powerful read about how much it meant to them to make that bowl game in his honor. I imagine for New Mexico State making and winning a bowl game last year was huge considering their history and future, same for Idaho the year before.

I understand where you are coming from on this. I grew up when a ribbon, a medal, or a trophy was an award for a real accomplishment. Nonetheless, college football is ultimately an entertainment industry, and I am not opposed to more entertainment of this type.

I was wondering the same thing but I would have to think the Myrtle Beach bowl would have a Sunbelt tie in....probably Sunbelt vs. CUSA. The size of the facility and the location would make that the obvious guess...but just a guess.

The relationship between a song about Myrtle Beach and a Bowl game/fan experience in Myrtle Beach is just too attenuated. An inconceivable link between the two. Imagine his outrage when he was forced to click play on the youtube link. Totally off-point. Crap youtube video too, an assessment obviously based on watching the whole thing.

If App has the pleasure of playing in the Gay Dolphin Bowl or whatever title this hypothetical game receives, I pledge to blast Sunny Ledford at the tailgate ALL DAY just for our message board's curmudgeon types. They'll come around.

Please just get this over with. Let every FBS team schedule an additional non conference game as the last game of the season instead of just adding a couple " Bowls" every few years.
