New roster heights and weights
Updated heights and weights are posted
https://appstatesports.com/roster.aspx? ... h=football
Some underwhelming gains in weight especially from the linemen.
Our starting center Noah Hannon is listed at 6'1 265?
Akeem Davis-Gaither who will be counted on at linebacker only 200 pounds?
Is our S&C staff having trouble getting weight on these guys or are we just brutally honest with how we report heights and weights.
Also Markell Clark is now somehow 2 inches shorter than last year?

Satt said Hannon had gained 20 lbs in Satterfields Machine article.
They may be fudging numbers on low side.

Re: New roster heights and weights
Roster numbers are rarely accurate (Especially when it comes to basketball). Some of the numbers could seem low because of summer conditioning, but I'm sure they will gain that back once camp starts.

Re: New roster heights and weights
Hannon was listed as 6'2 260 last year and I'm pretty sure he didn't allow a sack all year. Davis-Gaither will be taking over Stringer's role, and he was listed at 208 last year and nobody seemed to have a problem with his size/performance.

Just wondering; you base this knowledge on what inside info? Haircuts and shoe brands?/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 9:21 pmor

Exactly. Do you think Hunter Seacat is really 6'9" without the man bun and if the team wore Adidas instead of Nike?asu66 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 3:51 amJust wondering; you base this knowledge on what inside info? Haircuts and shoe brands?/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 9:21 pmor

Methinks we're on the same wave-length! If we got on my famous "Waaayback Machine" for a visit to any basketball venue in the '70s, we'd see a lot of guards listed at 6-5...but they were really 6-0 with a tall 'fro./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 7:55 amExactly. Re: New roster heights and weights
I feel like we have under reported weights the past couple of years, I’m fine with that - just another head game. Damn that 260 pounder just put you in the dirt.

Re: New roster heights and weights
I think we've always tended to under-report weights. We've had guys listed at the same weight as their freshman year when we knew they had bulked up. Acitelli was listed in the 260's for most of his time at App but his father was on the board and confirmed he was more like 290. Disclaimer: I'm dredging that up from memory, so I might have some details wrong.

I think that was Cantwell's "Queens Village" Irish Catholic version. Cremins' "South Bronx" Irish Catholic version was kinda like "Dawell Wobinson." NYC semantics.Stonewall wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 8:26 am"Dawell Robinson"asu66 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 6:46 pmMethinks we're on the same wave-length! Re: New roster heights and weights
Seems like a strange and unnecessary practice. Honestly we should probably be beyond that as a program wheather it's intentional or not. If we want to be treated big time, we need to behave like a big time program.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 1:19 pmI think we've always tended to under-report weights. Re: New roster heights and weights
Big time programs do the same thing. Miraculous how players seem to shrink a few inches once measured at the NFL combine compared to their listed height in college.Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 3:40 pmSeems like a strange and unnecessary practice. Hmmm. Perhaps. I can still hear it above the Varsity Gym crowd. And there were crowds.....asu66 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 1:41 pmI think that was Cantwell's "Queens Village" Irish Catholic version. We are witnesses. The fact that it has been done is proof that it can be done. No excuses.

Thanks. It's a sobering and surreal number, but the alternative is a little too final for me.
