Well, I will be headed over to Greenville for the EZU game.

Re: MBB releases '18-'19 non-conference slate
Good grief, if I'm not mistaken, we played Ferrum back in the NAIA days or our JV's played them when Ferrum was a Junior College. Milligan, I'm pretty positive we played them when we were in NAIA. Chuck, isn't Ferrum in Div III now?
Hopefully, regardless, it should be three wins.
Georgetown? Great. Our chance for a major upset! A man can wish, can't he?

It is all about wins; about getting the season off on a good note; and about getting a breather game after a tough road game.
Mars Hill, NCAA Div. II
Ferrum, NCAA Div. III
Milligan, NAIA, Div II

Re: MBB releases '18-'19 non-conference slate
True that, but WSSU has and has had a completely different men's basketball program and tradition from about any other D-II program in the southeast. I give the Rams an "Earl-the Pearl" pass. But not the other three...

Re: MBB releases '18-'19 non-conference slate
I'm not sure a team coming off a Sun Belt championship and an NCAA tournament appearance could polish off that turd of a home schedule as interesting. We sit here every year and say "maybe next year is the year our overall home OoC slate will improve" and every year it looks about the same, give or take. Maybe we get a bone and a Davidson or CLT visit every once in a while, and we consider ourselves blessed. Don't get me wrong - I love big wins - easy wins (or at least they should be) are great and make for a laid-back and let's coast visit to the Holmes Center but at the same time they rarely bring me up the mountain, especially on a weeknight. I get a tune-up game, maybe even two, but sheesh...loading up on HBCU's and DII/III's is getting old. At least get me some H&H's with Liberty, ODU, MTSU, William & Mary, Radford, or a MAC school or two. I realize scheduling like this is all the rage now among G5's and lower in the D1 ranks, under the guise of "building a team and getting our rotation/gameplan" figured out before we play games that "matter", all the while padding the record in an attempt to get to that magical 20-win mark. To a coach it is the job security plan, to a fan I call it the "better be 2 tickets for $10 and a free Pepsi plan".

I would have a hard time paying to see some of these games unless tickets were in the $5 range.

The ECU game is the first in a home and home.
Keep in mind Ferrum is just an exhibition.

Might as well have scheduled Watauga High as a DIII. j/k

The non-conference road schedule is very respectable. The non-conference home slate is an absolute joke. I believe it's the worst home non-conference schedule we have ever had. Coach Fox -this is embarrassing.

Yes, the home non conf schedule is weak, but at this point, I’ll take some wins. That road non conf is pretty good, and it only lists Alabama, our first opponent, in the Char Classic, others in the field include: Wich st, Purdue, VT, and others. We needs some confidence, wins and momentum.

Maybe we can get that Middle School team we beat by 100 again. Surely they are improved

Re: MBB releases '18-'19 non-conference slate
I think we open the Char Classic with Purdue. Then play the winner/loser of the Wichita St-Davidson game. Alabama is a "non-bracketed" game. Tough tournament!AppOrange wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 10:56 pmYes, the home non conf schedule is weak, but at this point, I’ll take some wins. For every Winston Salem State, Houston had during his time, was at least an UNCC.
