45-9 final. We took over in the second half.

Re: UNCC Game Thread
I was curious to see how we’d come out mentally after PSU. I was pleased. And Zac is the real f*****g deal. Charlotte moved the ball well, just couldn’t execute when it mattered.
We need to clean up our sloppy ball carrying and personal fouls before they really bite us in the ass.

I mean, I know I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know (or can’t get in the box score), but what a showing from Zac! 14/14, 295 yds passing and 3 tds, plus another rushing td. And I’m loving our receivers. You don’t get completion numbers like that if your receivers can’t haul it in.

Passing Game has been amazing, but can you imaging this offense once the run game gets going for 4 quarters as well???? It'll be hard for anyone to stop.

Besides that second half last week in Happy Valley, this run game has been MIA. Not sure if it’s Jalen or this O-Line

We decided the final score would be 45-9, because we’re nice like that. I thought the crowd was 50/50 until the ref said, “Appalayshun,” which set off a sea of boos that filled their little shoebox. I was sitting with a friend who has UNC————Charlotte season tickets across from the north side (he’ll, visitors, it’s a FCS atmosphere when we’re not there), and our fans were on point all game.

Perhaps it's the schemes we're facing. My guess is that PSU and UNCC loaded the box to stop the run. Zach Thomas is making them pay. We only ran 50 plays this week. 35 run/15 pass.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:11 pmBesides that second half last week in Happy Valley, this run game has been MIA. Also, from our end zone seats, we were one missed tackle a way from breaking big gains in the running game. But, we didn't break the tackle.

Moore also seems to be a guy that gets better as the game goes on. He only had 11 carries tonight. Not enough for him to find his rhythm.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:20 pmPerhaps it's the schemes we're facing. My guess is that PSU and UNCC loaded the box to stop the run. Re: UNCC Game Thread
Looks like both opponents have really tried to key on stopping Jalin and the running game in general. That was our bread and butter last year. We will just continue to burn teams in other phases until they key on other phases, then we can open up the run game a little more.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:11 pmBesides that second half last week in Happy Valley, this run game has been MIA. Our line has also had to work a ton on pass blocking, leaving less time for us to work on run blocking. It makes a difference.

Re: UNCC Game Thread
Apparently I rubbed some UNCHarrisburg fans the wrong way and got called out on their board for being “a bad reflection of App State”. They forced my hand and I had to log on and call the fingerpointer out for leaving at halftime. I had 10 of us sitting in the main PSL section and we cheered on our feet the majority of the game. No foul language, no taunting, but we were loud. My son started a few chants and had a great time. I also had to point out that my “academics” included the two business degrees that earned me the benefit to sit there and hook up my extended family. Sad that they were so butt hurt and had to make some false statements to make them feel better.

Had to wait til we got home. Glorified home game, especially the entire 4th quarter. Dominant showing with a huge disparity in talent. They obviously loaded up to stop Jalen but we simply have too many weapons. Hell we ran the identical play twice in a row and got 10 yards a pop. Even overcame shaky officiating- the “fumble “ on the PIC 6 was a horrible call.

Great job App fans! The players really appreciated our taking over that place. After the team broke from their meeting at midfield after the game was over, 3 players made a beeline over to the crowd in GA and thanked everybody and posed for pictures, etc...
The GA (Birthday) section got so loud UNCC jumped twice because they couldn’t hear the QB in their own stadium!! Classic.

Re: UNCC Game Thread
Thus far Zac Thomas and the receiving corps are living up to their billing and more. Not sure we've seen the likes in a long time, if ever to this degree.
Running game has been slow and the OL has struggled to get push at the line of scrimmage. Obvious teams have stacked the box but that has been the case in the past as well. We haven't been great on defense on third down and look a little shaky on KO return coverage. But, this team will only get better moving forward as the youth movement continues to mature.
