Not true. Endless possibilities even with a loss tonight. Don't want to have to rely on those possibilities, so yes, let's beat the hell out of Georgia Southern.

Re: Sun Belt championship game
This is great!
I know there are some that aren’t fond of our place in the Sunbelt, but it’s really grown on me. We are competitive every year and now get even more of a chance to showcase our program nationally.
Consider that we could get 4-5 nationally televised games a year in the Sunbelt in a good season.
- Season opener on Big10 network
- Tuesday night spooky Funbelt action
- Thursday night Georgia Southern game
- Sunbelt Championship game
- Bowl game
Obviously this won’t always be the case, but if we were 4th place in the AAC right now, would we receive nearly this much attention? The exposure for our program is so valuable.

Re: Sun Belt championship game
The best part about joining the SunBelt is that we were instantly competitive and able to dominate in a very very short period of time. All the success, notoriety, conference titles, bowl wins, and rankings are a result of our ability to win early and win big after transitioning to FBS. Honestly, I think the SunBelt was the best conference for us to land in and hopefully our success will lead to a bigger and better conference in the future.

Not to mention the Troy game could potentially be on TV.

Re: Sun Belt championship game
Agree totally about the Sun Belt move. It was the best conference for us to do our transition from FCS. If we weren't winning consistently fan and recruit interests wouldn't be where it is today. We hopefully will work our way up at some point, or we'll elevate the Sun Belt's prestige with our continued success on the national stage...

Re: Sun Belt championship game
Truth be told, the conference has grown on me. I like how it embraces the #funbelt attitude and seems to play the role of underdog well. Obviously I’d like it to be more competitive against the P5’s, but it takes time.
It’s undeniable that the conference is now ahead of CUSA competitively and I think it’s now starting to shake the “Sunbelt sucks” label. It’d be nice to sit tight for a while and build some rivalries and be a part of elevating the conference.
Tuesday games aren’t the best but it helps build the brand like it did for #Maction. I do believe that the Sunbelt can reach the level of the MWC, which would be exceptional. And I’m all for us playing the role of Boise.

Re: Sun Belt championship game
USF and Cincy are frauds this season, lets be realistic. UCF and Houston are the class of that conference and then there is quite a drop off.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 12:16 pmWe wouldn't be 4th in the AAC....ah59396 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:29 amThis is great!

Re: Sun Belt championship game
I agree this year's team wouldn't be 4th in the AAC; however, if we had moved directly up to the AAC we would have struggled more to have winning seasons, bowl game success, etc. so we probably (impossible to know of course) wouldn't be as strong as we are at this point. Winning begats winning...Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 12:16 pmWe wouldn't be 4th in the AAC....ah59396 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:29 amThis is great!

Re: Sun Belt championship game
Thank you. This is what I was saying. The first couple years in the AAC would have been rough and there’s no telling the impact it would have had on recruiting, fan engagement and funding.Rick83 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 1:42 pmI agree this year's team wouldn't be 4th in the AAC; however, if we had moved directly up to the AAC we would have struggled more to have winning seasons, bowl game success, etc. so we probably (impossible to know of course) wouldn't be as strong as we are at this point.
