No need to engage 'em, this is clearly a propagated culture. seems to be their calling card in college athleticsappchicago wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:21 pmWell, let's let you be the judge. If instead of letting an f-bomb slip while watching the game take a wrong turn, he instead yelled "F--- Georgia Southern!, " would that have been better? You don't have to be much of a lip-reader to know that the occasional f-bomb exclamation on the sidelines is normal. That's the same as a straight up taunt? I don't think you believe that.
I'm no prude, but your fans made the ESPN camera guys blush. It was hilarious. The one dude in the crowd with the giant beard started the chant while the camera was square on him, and the abrupt cutaway was noticeable. Then a few times later it was loud enough to hear during gameplay.
We have our own issues with not-so-classy chants from time to time--you can surely find the threads if you're bored enough to hunt around--but most of us don't defend them.

Point is, some of both fan bases are classless. On this occasion, it wasn’t a bunch of drunk idiot fans at a ball game, it was YOUR star player doing an interview on a national broadcast DIRECTLY representing your school. IMO He should be relieved of his scholarship. In summary, don’t throw rocks if you live in a glass house. Y’all just butthurt that you lost.

Sorry, but that's just a ridiculous statement. His F bomb was not directed at any individual and was uttered as he turned his head. He didn't voice it into the camera nor do it incessantly. You guys were the better team and were deserving of the win but you have no credibility when you make such a comparison or make such a foolish statement.oldfart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:45 pmPoint is, some of both fan bases are classless. OldFart, i know you have been around for a while and have been a pretty good poster, but come on! Gus is known for its fan behavior and now you are trying to compare some one who let out an explicative at a particular moment to a well rehearsed cheer by thousands. Um, no, not even close. and to say a scholly should be pulled, sir you have lost it. I guess you have never stubbed a toe or hit your thumb with a hammer, sincerely hope you lost your HOUSE over that. I guess all the Athletes on TV should lose their job as well, maybe coaches who are caught on camera.oldfart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:45 pmPoint is, some of both fan bases are classless. Oh and BTW, the young man in question, his career ended a couple games ago when he had NFL aspirations, what a freakin moron!
Yes i am very butthurt over the loss, will be for a while, but no not clouding my judgement here. you are literally comparing a Mountain to a Mole hill so as not to look so bad. Sorry wont work on that one. Good day, sir!

One person is a 20 year kid who errantly drops an Fbomb while watching a football game.oldfart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:45 pmPoint is, some of both fan bases are classless. The other is an adult arguing that a young man have his collegiate funding removed for swearing.
Now you tell me who sounds foolish.

He represented your school well. Keep funding his education if you’re ok with that. The clip of him doing that has gone viral, and quite honestly, it’s pretty comical. It was a hard fought game, pretty evenly played, but 5 turnovers and a big penalty differential was the difference. That said, we spoke to very nice App fans and had some good conversation with them. HOWEVER, there were some that came down were quite rude. It is what it is, but every fan base has horrible fans and yes App has them too. The only thing more nauseating than crappy fans are fans that think their crap don’t stink.

No the F bomb shows absolutely no class anytime, anywhere, anyone. What is your point?
Re: Did anyone else notice...
Point is simply that there are bad fans everywhere. See above posts.

"Well he did it" is a childish answer to the problem. Some of our fans have a chant I am not terribly happy about. It has nothing to do with what any other fans do. Our fans are just wrong and it needs to be addressed.
Your fans are way out of line and that needs to be addressed. I spent one very long game on the sidelines at your place and I will say it is the only place I will never go back to. Your comment of bad fans everywhere is also a silly statement. I have been to an awful lot of stadiums and would go back to every one of them except one. That should tell you something. Now you can come back with something or you can just think about it. Now you folks have a problem but it is up to you folks if you want to do something about it. We are talking about ways to solve ours. You?
Re: Did anyone else notice...
Yes, there were many of us disappointed in the student section chants and no fans/opposing teams should ever be abused. It is being addressed going forward, and I appreciate that y’all recognize your problems too. As far as not coming back, that’s your choice, but that’s weak sauce.bcoach wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 7:41 am"Well he did it" is a childish answer to the problem. Is it really weak sauce? I have a friend that's down there for her master's and working at the University. She came back from class and her App stickers torn off her back window, car keyed, and a smell of urine coming from the vehicle. And she is a current student and employee!
At the end of the day, your culture is toxic and 100% classless. Sure, App has some issues but there issues at jawja suthin are 100 times worse.

Re: Did anyone else notice...
I had a brand new Cadillac keyed at App a few years ago, I just learned to park in a safer place when I go. My young kids and I (back in the day)have been cussed out by middle schoolers and their parents at App., so I learned to travel in groups. I’ve learned to be gracious in my old age and make friends with a few App fans along the way. Y’all ran goal posts through our bus windows one year and stomped on the team’s meal, etc., and the list goes on, but things are not 100x worse at any particular school, it’s pretty much the same everywhere. The students and “Walmart-type fans” just don’t know how to act. Since the GS/App rivalry is so intense, it amps it up. I was on the home sideline and well before the game, your players tried to start shit with ours twice running their mouths and shoving one of our guys WARMING UP. Almost broke out into a free for all and it was so bad the referees and security had to separate them. I’ve NEVER seen that with an opposing team before a game in Paulson. That could have a lot to do with the verbal assaults. I’m not excusing them, just saying that pissing a fan base off before a game might make them more hostile than normal. But yes, we weren’t on our best behavior Thursday, I was ashamed of some of our fan’s conduct, but it happens everywhere. At app state too. I’m done. Enjoy your year, beat the rest of the sunbelt(the conference both of us would never be able to compete in) and win a bowl game. Y’all have a talented team. See you in Boone next year.

Re: Did anyone else notice...
That's funny because of all the people I've talked to about those two incidents, including GaSo fans and a GaSo beat writer, they ALL said it was clearly the iggles that caused the scuffles. Coming on to our side of the field, pushing through the player wall during walk throughs, one threw a ball at Duck.oldfart wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 8:46 amI was on the home sideline and well before the game, your players tried to start shit with ours twice running their mouths and shoving one of our guys WARMING UP. Again, this is coming from GaSo fans as well so it's an unbiased view. Take off your blue glasses and see what has really happened with your culture. I mean hell, you're still the only school ever to be forced by the NCAA to install barriers between the seats and visiting sideline!

When it comes to fan etiquette, your fans are no better or worse than ours. Just depends on which team is hosting.
