Savannah State
Many board members criticized ASU for playing Savannah State last year. Savannah State is playing Oklahoma State tonight.

Re: Savannah State
I didn't see it as being critical but more or less just frustrated with our situation that forced us to have to have to schedule them. Anyone with any ounce of common sense would not want to trade places with Jay Sutton when it's time to finalize the schedule.

Re: Savannah State
It's obvious. We grouse about having a school of Savannah State's level on OUR schedule but yet they are on a much more prominent FBS team's schedule.BeauFoster wrote:And your point is?

Re: Savannah State
Good point. Sometimes we lose track of the idea that we have to fit into other teams' schedules and be able to get them to come to Boone. No matter what level we play, it is going to be hard to get some teams to come to Boone unless they are in-conference foes. Look how long it took to get Montana to come to Boone and they are on our level.proasu89 wrote:I didn't see it as being critical but more or less just frustrated with our situation that forced us to have to have to schedule them. Speaking of Montana, who is going to replace Chisholm at RB next week?

And I'm sure that their fans are complaining about it, too. They should since it's a snoozer of a game.JCline0429 wrote:It's obvious. Re: Savannah State
I am sure none of the OU fans had any reservations about playing Savannah St either.
The big difference is they play a tough Big 12 schedule that more than makes up for the drop to their strength of schedule as a result of playing one of the weakest teams in D1 football.

Re: Savannah State
Being FBS won't guarantee us from playing teams of the like of Savannah State. Look at UNC playing Elon for example.BeauFoster wrote:And I'm sure that their fans are complaining about it, too. Re: Savannah State
If you have a good enough schedule outside of SSU, a fan base will let it slide (to an extent). In Ok States situation, they have a full Big 12 slate. We had 2 other laffers, including Jacksonville if I recall. That's why people complained.JCline0429 wrote:Being FBS won't guarantee us from playing teams of the like of Savannah State. Re: Savannah State
If Savannah St. and A&T hadn't been on our schedule last year, we would have likely not made the playoffs.
Think if we had McNeese and/or Montana on last years schedule with the problems we had.
