Haven't thought about it. Don't want Satterfield to leave, don't want him to need to be replaced. Historical game this weekend and we have numerous threads most of which are filled with fake news about Satterfield's next move.
Keep burying your head in the sand. Whether we like it or not this is something that needs to be talked about, and I guarantee the athletics department is doing the same.
No one is burying their head in the sand and denying the inevitable. Why is it that you have accepted him leaving a foregone conclusion and any other thought or feeling is worthy of nothing more than dismissive? Grow up and learn to discuss thoughts that counter yours instead of labeling them.
Would you leave your current job for 3-4x your salary without batting an eye? If you say no, you're either foolish or a liar.
If I was living comfortably with my current salary, my family and I were happy, I had many friends in the community, loved the area, etc. I'd turn it down. And, I'm neither foolish or a liar. Then again, maybe I'm too much of a "simple man".
But your job is not guaranteed.....Scott said on the radio yesterday in so many words it only takes a couple average seasons for you to be on a hot seat and not be part of the conversation. “I will do what is best for my family”. Securing your financial future should be first on the list. My daughter lives near GT in Buckhead. Scott could though it out there and the boys play in a good private school. I’d be there as soon as I get them celebrating a Chanpiobship.

I believe we all can agree that there is a lot more feeding into this "situation" than the "almighty dollar", it's not that "black and white"/simple.

I like Shawn a lot, but he's a tough sell after a 2-10 season for GaSt. I think he can improve that team in time, but until that day comes, his head coaching resume isn't something that's going to warm the hearts of many App fans.

Agree. I was hoping that he was going to be ready when Satt moved on, but he just isn't.

It will depend on who Satt takes with him when he goes. You can almost guarantee Ponce and Iron Mike will follow. Maybe Cardwell, Clark and Ivey. I'd like to keep Ivey for the FL recruiting pipeline but I imagine he'd follow Satt.

HC Candidates:

Tim Horton - Current Auburn Asst. Coach, RB Coach and Recruiting Coordinator...previous stint at App
Bryan Brown - Current App St DC
Rhett Lashlee - SMU OC avg over 30 pts a game
Mike Houston - Current JMU head coach, possibly future UNC-C-HC
Curt Cignetti - Current Leon head coach, was having a good year until the last 3 weeks. Knocked off JMU and lost by a point to CAA Champ Maine

I mentioned DC Brown as Satt's replacement a while back. Promote Brown to HC and DJ Smith to DC. For shites and giggles, bring in Lamb as QB coach and Mario Acitelli as OL/TE coach. Take back Greenhalgh from GS to be Director of S&C.

I actually think Shawn Elliott is ready but the team he coaches isn't ready to sell him. He significantly exceeded expectations last season but the losses to graduation were too much to overcome. Nobody could have won at GSU this past year. If Shawn wanted to come home, I would be fine with that. He probably isn't the top of the list though.

I agree a 2 - 10 season would not do much for App fans, but in Shawn's defense, Satt probable inherited more talent in FCS App, that Shawn in Georgia State's FBS squad. Shawn did not get many playmakers in GSU. Time will tell if he is a good coach or not.

I wonder what our chances are of retaining our coaching staff with an internal hire as HC (Brown/Ponce/Ivey)? I don't see Satt completely stripping away our coaching staff if/when he leaves mainly because I don't think a P-5 program would want a coaching staff primarily made up of coaches that have no experience at that level. Our App culture is something the current staff gets and will be hard to replicate with a wholesale replacement.

If we're able to maintain staff continuity, I would give more weight to an internal selection. If we're losing most of the staff, then I'd cast a much wider net. Either way I wouldn't just hire from within our current staff or our coaching tree if there is an obviously better outside candidate available.

In the end there will be multiple qualified applicants and we're a desirable opportunity for an up and coming coach. We'll be OK. It just sucks to lose a good one when you have one.

Corso will be President of Football Operations. Lou will bring back Barry Alvarez as Def. Coordinator. Lou already has a plan on how he would coach millenials in an article from August. Sounds like a nicer, softer Lou is ready to get back into coaching.

Assuming Scott takes his most of staff,

Ruffin McNeill as HC
Everett withers or DJ Smith at DC
