Re: Scott Gone
Something seemed to push him out. I thought he would have held out for a better program. I worry about the immediate future now (next couple year slump).

Re: Scott Gone
Yup the special thing we have is not going to Louisville. I trust DG fully on this. Have to have the next man up mentality when it comes to coaches. We will be just fine.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:35 pmI’ve said it before. There is just something special up on the mountain and I just don’t think it will go to Louisville- no offense to Satt. I really felt it standing on that field Saturday as I was getting covered in confetti. After we win the bowl game most of us realists will see that while we are in the Belt it won’t get any better than this. Satt knows it and most of us know it. Someone suggested on another thread that we load up and play 3 or 4 P5’s every year. Unless they are the dregs we ain’t getting two bigs to play in Boone unless we really sacrifice our future non-conference opportunities. Folks complain about attendance but few seem to acknowledge that 5k in conference foe fans simply are not going to travel. Money drives this train and we simply can’t nor should we overpay for Satt or any football coach.

Re: Scott Gone
Slump? No he wants as much money as he can make and he had no loyalty here. You need to read up on Jimmy Sexton. Sexton is money hungry and I guarantee he talked Scott into this. They feel if he turns Louisville around in right direction that the big time offer is coming.
Prediction: In 4-5 years from now Scott will be telling close friends he regretted leaving App. Mark it down. He won't be the first coach who left that has said that.

Re: Scott Gone
I think we will be fine. I hope we can get someone who knows how to manage a clock before half time! Haha
In the meantime good luck to Satt ...
We are bigger than one guy and I trust Doug to make the right decision.

Remember when people thought the Defense would have a down year after Woody Left? That didn't happen.
I fully expect Gillin to make the right decision on the next hire.

Re: Scott Gone
We have the third youngest team in FBS. Tradition, support, AD. Everything is in place. We might be surprised what DG brings in. This is a great job right now.

Re: Scott Gone
Then in 4 years, if the Card boosters can him, he and the Mrs get to move back to Boone, retire and won't have to work 100 hours a week anymore. Congrats to him and his family.

I’m not sure what benefit you get from predicting failure for someone that led us through what could have been a very rough patch.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 5:10 pmSlump? I wish him all the success. Unless it’s in Apps way.

I think most of us are just waiting for things to be offficial. If you read between the lines, it sounds like he was the number one candidate of possibly only 2 or 3 guys and UL is prepared to make or has made an offer and is having their vote and subsequent announcement tomorrow. Nothing is actually official, but all signs point to a Satterfield as the next HC of Louisville Football. Media is jumping on it to have the scoop, but no one, outside of the parties actually involved know

Thanks Satterfield for all you you did for App State, however we now see that he bleeds red and not Black and Gold

Re: Scott Gone
Man, cue up the “bitter ex girlfriends” who wish ill will and poke their voodoo Sexton dolls. This has been coming for over a year. Satterfield is and always will be an App State guy. I personally wish him luck wherever he goes and he will have a fringe fan in me. Howeva..... my loyalties remain solely with App State and outside of keeping tabs on him and watching if on tv, he will be far from my mind by this time next season.

Re: Scott Gone
All these articles are still quoting that first one from the c-j. And all they said was “a close source”.
Still waiting to hear from DG and if there’s a counteroffer.

Re: Scott Gone
WSJ is citing another Louisville paper that he’s been hired, although nothing official.

This is something that hopefully hasn’t blindsided DG. It’s not as if Satt hasn’t been on the wish list for over
a year now.
Hopefully he subscribes to the “Next Man Up” code and is already making calls.
The team is tight, it’s hot and just posted a season with a t25 ranking and a conference championship. It should be a coveted role for prospective suitors.

Re: Scott Gone
Early rumblings are Tim Horton from Auburn. He already has a “posse” of App guys from the mid 90’s he could bring if we lose a handful to UL. This could be a nice grab, but I would love to retain Brown in the process.
