Re: Scott Gone
The way some of you are talking we shouldn’t even go to Nola ...
I think this is going to be good for us and Scott. There are things that he did during a game that made me scratch my head but any coach will leave us scratching our heads at times. We will find someone to replace him and go beat the crap out of MTSU.
We will still be in contention for a NY6 bowl next year. We will probably win the Belt again. We are a great team. I would be worried if we had 2003 talent on this team but we do not. Time to get excited about some new blood and get beside these guys who wear the black and gold! We should hold our heads high and go kick some butt.

You can hide from the media in Boone. First time I've seen what his wife and kids look like and it's his first day on the job in Louisville.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:57 pmI know this picture doesn't capture the mood of the entire interaction, however, this looks like a picture from a funeral. Like many others, I thought we would have Scott for one more year. A successful 2019 really would have put both parties in a much better position IMO. NY6 bowl and acclaim for App, and different P5 interest for Satt. Reality hits hard.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:57 pmI know this picture doesn't capture the mood of the entire interaction, however, this looks like a picture from a funeral. My only complaint about this whole process has been the buyout that we agreed to. Its absurd that JMU is getting more from ECU than we are getting from Louisville. Scott may (or may not) be a mountaineer at heart, but his (and agent) insistence on a buyout far below market value for a renegotiated contract that included a hefty pay raise was not fair to App at all. I hope we negotiate better on the next contract.
Oh well, best of luck to Satterfield, unless App is the opponent.

True. Whoever said NAFTA was the worst negotiated deal in history didn't hear about this one...BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 3:27 pmLike many others, I thought we would have Scott for one more year. This pic is a bad look, but the full video shows smiles on everyone's faces at different times. Unfortunately, this is the one the L'ville newspaper picked up and posted.

I don't know, looking at the video all the smiles that happen seem pretty forced.Boone Goon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 3:45 pmThis pic is a bad look, but the full video shows smiles on everyone's faces at different times. Unfortunately, this is the one the L'ville newspaper picked up and posted.
Good luck though to Scott, hopefully he made the right choice in the long run.

He's right highest ranked conference champion, but it assumes we would have been ranked higher than Fresno St which was also a conference champion at 21appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:54 pmWe wouldn't have passed CFU.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:52 pmHighest ranked G5 conference champion gets the new year's bowl. If Memphis beat UCF, the golden knights would have been ineligible for it.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:51 pmWhat are you talking about? First, we were whipped by GSU. But set that aside. IF we had beaten Southern we might have been ranked in the 20 to 17 range in the CFP (which is what matters) Central Florida went into the Memphis game ranked 8th. There is no way we would have passed them. Obviously, I have no idea, but i doubt Appalachian State ever passed the lips of a committee member.asucrutch23 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:38 pmWe were literally 2 games from a NY6 bowl. We beat Georgia Southern and Memphis beats UCF. That's all that had to happen.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:30 pmWe are so far from a New Year's 6 game. It is ridiculous for that to be a legitimate goal. Not beating a P5 school (among many other things) makes him a question mark for Louisville. The man did his job in Boone and is getting an opportunity to see if he can hit big league pitching. Time will tell. But getting paid for a promotion is no crime.
That is our new goal. We have done everything else.

Re: Scott Gone
He was App State through and through. It's the only place he's really known as an adult and he just accepted a position at another school shortly after taking App State to a level he had always hoped to reach. I can't imagine there isn't some second guessing on his part once he steps off that plane and reality hits. You go from focusing on nothing but football at App and winning a championship to stepping off a plane in Louisville, KY three days later. The win Saturday was an emotional moment for the program and for Satterfield it seems, and they finally are off to New Orleans, and were overtime against Penn State and a few injuries against Southern away from the NY6.
Unfortunately, this isn't a situation where if a coach fails, they generally go back to the previous school. Louisville is in an iffy situation and it seems Scott jumped at the money when he didn't have to. Personally, I'd like to see App play Louisville next year because I think App may actually be favored to win.

Who is “Pete Davidson”? Is he an App recruit, which team does he play for?appalum2003 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:28 pmI feel like Pete Davidson watching Ariana Grande courtside at the Lakers game with her new boyfriend.
Scotty, come back...
And what is an “Ariana Grande”? Sounds like some high priced liquor drink at a rooftop bar.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the video.
