What are the odds this presser happens in NOLA. The team departs KHKY today at 2. So this screams not Ivey. I have been checking flight aware and see nothing but I have been only been check KTRI and KHKY. Someone will leak this. No way we go to Thursday not knowing. That would be the first time in forever that a coaching presser happened without knowing the coach.

Think I'm leaning toward Stacy Searels as my main guess. But I wont be surprised if it's Josh Gattis or if they keep Mark Ivey. But I'm not thinking Horton has made it to the final round.

I'm not sure if the actual short list was ever confirmed, but it was mentioned that in addition to the candidates they were initially considering, that they had received an abundance of outside interest that they may consider. Gattis could be one of the outside candidates.

I think if it was Ivey, they would have announced by now. Seems like it would have been better morale for the team earlier, but at this point announcing him would make it seem like everyone else turned us down and defaulted to him. Just my opinion though. I would be perfectly happy with him

Gotcha...and agree. He was there when I was and he came up to the dorm to speak to us one time. He just didn't have it..

I'd like to thank our Administration for keeping things tight lipped. Looks like they have kept the search candidates under wraps and kudos to them. I'm sure there are a few who do know something - but at least they have been trustworthy enough to keep their mouths shut, no matter how nerve-wrecking it has been for the fans.

I was told not to say anything until tomorrow when I heard this morning but it is indeed a coach. The person would not tell me flat out who it was but gave a couple hints that leads me to believe it is indeed Josh Gattis. Their hint was a P5 assistant coach from the south. Gattis fits that criteria. They also said they are coming from a football power program.

I really like Gattis at this point. My only hesitation is that he would leave quickly but hopefully if he does what I think we should do in 2019 and 2020 I won't be upset by it.

If it is Gattis, I hope we were adamant that he keep our defensive scheme.

Although, since he knows more about football in his pinky finger than i can ever know, i'm sure he took one look at our results and personnel, and came to the same conclusion himself.

I think he brings the most excitement, even with the risk/reward of hiring a 1st time coach

They would have to keep the 3-4 for some period of time, all of our players have been recruited for that system.....and oh yeah, we are one of the top defenses in the country.

Who would we rather have? Gattis or Searles? What is the appeal on Searles?

Gattis pros are young and from the Saban tree. Recruits will respond well. Cons are less experience and would be gone in a few years if successful.

Searles pros are established coach and might be more inclined to stay a while. Cons are maybe his recruiting. Kind of a guess.

I'd go with Gattis if it was my choice.

That's probably the hard part, if we see us go away from our schemes on both sides of the ball that have worked very well. Not sure anyone wants any change on the D side and just some more attack/less predictable from the O side.

No flights from Miami coming into KHKY. None from Bama either. I really don't think we use KTRI anymore due to 321 being done.
