I believe this was posted earlier, but the link wouldn't work for me...he speaks about exactly what he brings to the table and how he plans to coach

Doesn't give a crap about App? How would anyone on this board know what he cares about? He cared enough to take this job and was a homerun hire.
You gents go cry over spilled milk in not keeping Satterfield or an awful side hire of a position coach under Saban.
The rest of us will celebrate we got a guy with a helluva pedigree of being successful everywhere he's been. You want to compete with the big boys? This is a big boy hire.

And would seemingly already have relationships with NC HS coaches established. I’m having trouble finding anything i dislike about this hire.MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:27 amYoung

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
Everyone saying our next coach will use us as a stepping stone ; what do you think Satterfield did?
He was a little more selective that others may have been, but that was due more to his family situation than his loyalty to App.
He used his success here to get a bigger opportunity elsewhere and jumped on it. Nothing wrong with that, but let’s keep that in mind when thinking about Coach Drink’s hire and any future App hires.

Boy, I wonder if he has the power to bring NC State's QB recruit, Ty Evans, with him? That would be a game changer!

I swear, some of y'all will find anything to gripe and complain about. If we were looking at Nick Saban and he didn't have App State connections, we'd be hearing the same "BUT HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT APP!" whiney crap. Good lord, give it a break! Sometimes you have to pull from other family trees to grow your own and that's what DG realized here in making this hire.
I'm excited about Drinkwitz. The guy has helped lead NC State to success, he has recruiting experience in North Carolina, he seems to be a good ole southern boy, he's young and looks to be willing to learn, and he has experience at some top notch schools. Will he bomb or succeed his first year? Who knows, but support the Mountaineers regardless! Stop worrying so much about where a coach came from and what motives he has for being here. If that's all you ever worry about, you're in for a rough time at App State, as I believe coaches coming and going like this will be our new norm. Welcome to FBS football!
Congratulations to you, Drinkwitz! Now let's DRINK up!

For those that thought Ledford was the first choice, we just hired his boss.

The most common phrase @ the Rock next season:
“Can I get a Drinkwitz ice, please”?

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
I was hoping for Gattis too. But I understand there were some significant drawbacks as well.
In addition, with how under wraps our admin has been, who knows how much interest on either side their actually was in Gattis.
Also think this might dispel the Ledford was #1 rumors, since this is his boss.
Don't know much about Coach Eli, but he just got the keys to a Ferrari (or at least a high end BMW), and he just need not crash it for a few years and things will work out well for us and him.

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
This looks like a great hire to me! Don't know the guy but I like the P5 OC experience. No coach is perfect, how many people have complained about Satt's play calling on this board in the past.
Overall, he seems like a winner.
Considering DG has a limited budget, competing coaching vacancies getting filled...usually with deeper pockets, and the need to get it done quickly...right now I'd put this in the home-run category. Time will tell as the passage of time either elevates or exposes. Really like that we got at least an OC level instead of a position coach or even a co-OC. He's young but has great experience.
