Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
I think this is what comes from having an actual “national search” Unlike the ones we used to have that somehow always ended up netting us an assistant that was already on the staff, or an App alumnus.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 5:29 amBecause we hired Drinkwitz doesn't mean Ledford wasn't a preferred choice. Though, I'm happy we got who we got.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 12:03 amWOW! Sorry all, I have been driving all day getting to New Orleans and just now getting caught up on my reading. This is a great post Saint3333 and thanks for pointing out the obvious here. My head has been spinning too much lately to realize and put that together. Welcome Coach Drinkwitz!

The kids nowadays call this a "mic drop"hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 8:45 amThis is getting off topic but someone please explain to me how our AD is dividing the fan base? He crowd-sourced a huge new scoreboard within a matter of months, the stadium is about to get a major overhaul, we have big-named P5 programs actually coming TO Boone to play, the football program is back-to-back-to-back conference champions, our attendance is the best in the conference again and on top of that I've seen him on more than one occasion walking around the tailgating areas mingling with the fans and getting feedback, including at an away game in Atlanta.
So unless you are one of those people living in 1996 and think we should be still back in the SoCon taking on the likes of VMI and Western while getting our asses handed to us by the likes of Kansas, I don't see how that's anywhere near being divisive or splitting up the fan base.
Charlie Cobb WAS divisive. He fired Jerry Moore, and essentially came out and told the fanbase that their opinions weren't really important with his infamous "people that matter" comment, not to mention after everything bolting over to Georgia State to play with a bigger sandbox of funding in a major metropolitan area. There was undoubtedly a rift in his tenure and I don't think anybody was really sad to see him go. (I know I personally love it when we hang 30 on the Panthers in their own stadium just to stick it to him)
DG I just don't see it. I see a man who sees the potential growth in an relatively young FBS program and is methodically grooming it into a top G5 team. If he can get us an AAC invite, I'll have to substantially up my Yosef Club contributions and will consider App finally making it to the promised land.
And for what it's worth, I'm enshrined on a Wall of Fame at my Alma Mater too...but just because I kicked ass in track and cross country for four years doesn't make me an expert in day-to-day operations of a multi-million dollar NCAA-level athletics program.

For the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. I was also an excellent Foosball player. I also did pretty well on trivia nights at Geno's.

I definitely left some blood, sweat and tears on the field of my Foosball table in college.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:19 amFor the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. I left some sweat, all the blood and tears came from the other side of the table. I probably left some BoJangle's biscuit crumbs on the table, though.appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:24 amI definitely left some blood, sweat and tears on the field of my Foosball table in college.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:19 amFor the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. Cobb didn't exactly fire Jerry , that issue has been covered elsewhere, but in any event some alumni had their favorite candidates and they are disappointed. Ok , fine .We have a new coach , get on board or get gone .We will be fine either way .

Oh man, I had forgotten about Genos!NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:19 amFor the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. I was also an excellent Foosball player. I also did pretty well on trivia nights at Geno's.
Since Genos and Murphys are both gone, where is the best place to get wings in town now? I live there and haven't found anywhere better than "The Rock" now and that's not my preference at all.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Any chance you know where to replace those delicious Murphy's cheese fries too?The Rock wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:46 amRiver's street ale house is pretty good IMOStorminASU wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:44 amOh man, I had forgotten about Genos!NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:19 amFor the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
this is entertaining....GS fans mostly think we made an underwhelming hire. My favorite line is "Very underwhelming hire. Not Summers-level underwhelming, but close."
A southern education apparently means that your research/analysis skills involve looking on the surface of what a coach did with one team in the last year. One GS fan says that Drinkwitz is an "offensive guru who is 70% pass and 30% run". They can't dig deep enough to understand that he has historically designed offense that best fits his personnel (one year at Boise having a mobile QB, another year involving a pocket QB).

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
I graduated, but never made Dean's List and I pretty much sucked at Foosball, but I left a lot of $$$ and a ton of empty beer bottles & glasses at Geno's. That was fun!appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:24 amI definitely left some blood, sweat and tears on the field of my Foosball table in college.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:19 amFor the record, I made Dean's List a few times back in the late 90's. Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
This is one of my favorite quotes from their thread:
They'll be on the Juco market looking for receivers if they want to throw it as much as he did at Boise State and NC State, I'll say that much.
Just because they only throw the ball 2x game doesn't mean we don't have receivers.
Sutton, Hennigan, Virgil, Evans, TE Pearson; not even thinking about who redshirted this year... I personally think this is the best time to start taking more shots down field.

Our culture is bad because our fans don't spray PBR on our team as they ride to the stadium, and our coach don't bust into frat parties and drop an elbow on a metal folding chair; or at least I hope he won't...

Re: New Head Coach - Eliah Drinkwitz
After reading the thread about our fees, I'm going to go with UNCC. 150 dollars extra a year compared to them (which is like 0.000001% of tuition these days) apparently makes us terrible fans for not donating enough because no one who graduates from here has enough money because our degree is useless.
Interesting to say the least.
