Tougher competition weekly would not yield the same results as playing in the Sun Belt. Tough market to recruit in and ASU doesn't have the money resources to make that happen. Wishful thinking but don't see it happening from a resource standpoint. Cannot compete with the P5 programs except for an occasional upset here and there.

It must be frustrating to pour unlimited resources into a program and not receive a single top 25 vote in any poll. Orange with envy.

Maybe since there was a "strong push" to keep Ivey and Jones but they left anyway, will give the players a sense that they were being heard but Ivey and Jones were also chasing the dollars and P5 experience.

There are some Debbie Downer trouble makers that are employees of the Athletic Department that are making statements regarding staff, coaches and unfortunately, players. This person needs to decide if they support AppState Athletics or not.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Unknown has been right about some things, but like him, I am hearing a lot of the “trash” surrounding the program right now too. The “trash” is what I referenced in posts above- the Alumni base is divided. A lot of folks have different perceptions of what is good and bad for the program. A lot of these folks are reacting emotionally to everything instead of thinking through what is going on and realizing it is change that was bound to come regardless of what we all want. They were interested in keeping Ivey and Ivey was interested in staying. But there was the big thing called “money” that needed to work out and probably a whole lot of other things we will only be periphelly aware of.
Change is here, Drink seems to be the right guy, let’s get it in 2019!

This train is leaving the station, either get on board or get out of the way...I'd suggest getting on board because it's gonna be an awesome ride!!

I keep hearing "divided" to describe our fan-base. However, it seems about 90% are pretty positive. Heck, 10% are almost always going to be unhappy regardless. So I'd say overall, we're fairly united over the hire and are naturally a little cautious/anxious while we await what hires/departures come next.

I know “unknown” and he is very much in the know but I’ll leave it at that. Ivey and Jones are app to the core and if we don’t keep that app family tradition, when drink eventually moves on, who would fill that transition? It will hurt recruiting too. Satt left...fine but these guys love app and maybe wanted a little more money but if you don’t pay them and offer extended contracts, and then you bring in new staff that will demand more money, that’s a slap in the face of these coaches that have played or worked for the black and gold for decades

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
I would definitely say there are more Alumni who are positive about it all (especially after the press conference), but after conversations I was having down in NO, there is absolutely a specific contingent of Alumni who are on the other side of this thing. Winning will cure all and if Drink is smart, he will do small things to bridge the gap. Having Jerry hang around is certainly an innocent but impactful thing as far as I’m concerned, and it seems like Drink realizes this.97APP wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 2:13 pmI keep hearing "divided" to describe our fan-base. I find it hard to believe that offers we’re not extended to all the staff left. If you go back and look at Satterfield comments they have always been he was taking a couple of assistants before the bowl game and probably a couple more after the bowl game. That would be Brian Brown an Ponce and iron Mike before the game then I would assume stu Holt and Dale Jones with the possibility of Ivey if he chose to go .
This just doesn’t support the fact that Frink ran them off or didn’t want them, because we didn’t know who the coach would be when Satterfield announced this

And I’ve been wrong before after hearing things too....unknown does have his finger on the pulse...plus that biatch makes a mean hot salsa...so I’ll trust his source.
