That's a great hire, Coach D. A young gun who's been there and done that, an NFL vet and a Mountaineer4life!

Great person to be retained to the next staff. Makes me wonder if a DC is ready to be named and gave the approval of keeping DJ or if this was to keep top coaching talent/continuity during the transition period.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
It was my understanding that Drink had his guy in mind as early as last Friday. This is why I keep saying Ivey wouldn't be the DC.
I don't know who it is... Just confirmed that he already had penciled in his guy

So far the two guys hired were the few at the press conference. Lets hop that is a trend and he will keep the other coaches that were there! I do hope Nic Cardwell stays. He is always one of the great pup up guys for the players before the games.

Man, I sure hope not. You would think that Drink would know how bad he could shred a Ted Roof defense himself and wouldn't make the mistake of hiring him

Do you think Coach D and DG would ask Woody to come back or do you think he burned the bridge when he went for the $ At GT? If they welcome him back home, I think we roll.

Why not? But if he is being considered for higher paying gigs, I doubt he comes back.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
I don't post often, and might be inaccurate in my thought process, but a quick Google search shows Ted Roof earns $550,000/year. Can or would App compete with that for a D.C.?

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Ga. Tech’s defense was not good under him.
NC state’s defense was not good and definitely their weak point and he was co-DC. We can do better.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Is there a common gig between him and Drink?
Didn’t see that he was listed at any if the places Drink has been; but I know the coaching world is small and a lot of connections are made at conferences

Veidt was recruiting coordinator at Toledo when they were recruiting Duck and they were the only other school to initially give him an offer.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
That was the point I was implicitly making. We can't afford him and don't really want him (at least we don't, can't read Drink's mind), so hopefully we'll find someone we can afford that supports our personnel and sustains and ideally improves our defensive prowess.
